My Hero Academia You’re Next Movie Trailer Breakdown; What to Expect

As a long-time enthusiast of anime and manga, I must say that the new trailer for “My Hero Academia: You’re Next” has piqued my interest significantly! The intriguing storyline, captivating visuals, and familiar characters from the franchise have me eagerly anticipating its US premiere in October.

In a recent development, the trailer for the upcoming movie “My Hero Academia: You’re Next” has been released, featuring the closing theme song ‘Gift’ by Vaundy. This is the fourth film in the series and it premiered in Japan on August 2, 2024. The film has been a massive success, ranking as the tenth highest-grossing movie of 2024 in Japan, earning over $16.25 million and selling more than 1.65 million tickets.

Prior to its American debut in October, the latest movie trailer offers a glimpse of some original characters, primarily focusing on Giulio and Anna. In this film, Giulio Gandini portrays the antagonist and serves as the butler for the affluent Scervino family. From what we can see in the trailer, it appears that Giulio was tasked with safeguarding Anna Scervino; however, it seems he did not fulfill his responsibility successfully.

In my expert opinion as a lifestyle guide, it appears there might be some romantic feelings developing between Deku and Giulio, given their warm interactions during flashback sequences. For instance, during one scene, Deku intervenes to stop Giulio – now wearing an eye patch – which could hint at a past event such as when Dark Might was carrying Anna while Giulio found himself trapped in a burning building.

One theory is that Anna has a quirk that is too powerful and cannot be controlled. So she asks Giulio to kill her before she loses control but Dark Might kidnaps her, intending to steal the Quirk. This is mere speculation, and we will have to wait for the International release of My Hero Academia: You’re Next.

In the trailer, not only Deku and Giulio, but all other members of Class 1-A are depicted joining forces to battle Dark Might. Creator Kōhei Horikoshi, known for his work on the original My Hero Academia series, expressed his enthusiasm about giving some secondary characters more spotlight. This upcoming movie arrives after the manga’s storyline has concluded.

In the United States, the upcoming movie titled “My Hero Academia: You’re Next” will premiere on October 11th, 2024. This film is being helmed by director Tensai Okamura and written by Yōsuke Kuroda. The production company behind this project is Studio Bones, with Toho Co., Ltd. handling the distribution. Keep an eye out for more news on “My Hero Academia: You’re Next”!
