Akutami’s Popular Fantasy Shounen Anime Is on Top of Crunchyroll’s Top 10 Most-Watched Anime of the Week List Once Again

Crunchyroll continues to be the top spot for anime lovers, constantly adding new shows alongside beloved favorites. This week, people are watching a wide variety of anime, from intense fantasy stories to fun and cheerful adventures. Here’s a list of the most popular series on the platform right now, based on recent viewing numbers.

‘Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End’ (2023–)

Following the defeat of the Demon King, the elf mage Frieren embarks on a journey to learn more about the fleeting nature of human life. The story beautifully portrays how time passes and the bonds that form between those who live for centuries and their mortal friends. Frieren revisits places from her past adventures with companions who have passed away, now traveling with a new student named Fern. The series is celebrated for its thoughtful, slow pace and stunning animation.

‘Noblesse’ (2020)

After waking up from a long 820-year sleep, Raizel finds himself in modern-day South Korea, trying to adjust to life as a high school student. As a powerful noble, he’s tasked with protecting others like him while facing danger from a shadowy group called the Union. He’s helped by his dedicated servant, Frankenstein, who runs the school where Raizel attempts to live a normal life. This anime is based on a popular Korean comic and combines exciting supernatural battles with everyday school life.

‘A Certain Scientific Accelerator’ (2019)

Accelerator, the strongest psychic in Academy City, finds himself protecting a young girl named Last Order. This story follows his journey to make amends for his past actions as a villain. Dangerous groups want to exploit his incredible power, leading to intense fights as he tries to keep the peace. This spin-off delves into the hidden, darker side of the ‘A Certain Scientific’ world.

‘Easygoing Territory Defense by the Optimistic Lord’ (2026– )

Van, a young boy abandoned by his family for being seen as worthless, finds himself in a desolate land. He uses his special ability to create things to build a new home and community for people of all kinds. The story follows Van’s positive leadership as he cleverly protects his growing territory from dangerous monsters. As more people join him, his once-forgotten land becomes a powerful and surprising force.

‘Solo Leveling’ (2024– )

In a world threatened by dangerous dungeons, hunters work to keep humanity safe. Sung Jinwoo is considered the weakest hunter among them, until a near-fatal experience unlocks a special ability: he can now grow stronger by ‘leveling up’ through a mysterious system. The story follows his incredible journey from a fragile, low-ranked hunter to a powerful warrior who could change the world. Expect thrilling battles and a focus on his increasing strength as he progresses.

‘Hell’s Paradise’ (2023– )

Okay, so I’m totally hooked on this new anime, ‘Hell’s Paradise’! It’s about Gabimaru, this incredibly skilled ninja who’s facing execution. But he gets a chance to earn his freedom if he can find this mythical Elixir of Life on a super dangerous island. He’s not alone though – a bunch of other criminals are sent there too, each with a guard from this elite ninja clan, the Yamada Asaemon. The island itself is insane – filled with creepy gods and plants that want to kill you! What really grabs me is how dark and intense the whole thing is, and how everyone has their own complicated reasons for being there. It’s a really gripping story!

‘ROLL OVER AND DIE: I Will Fight for an Ordinary Life with My Love and Cursed Sword!’ (2026– )

Flum Apricot is kicked out of her adventuring group because she’s incredibly weak and holds them back. Sold into slavery, she unexpectedly discovers she can use weapons that are cursed – weapons no one else can even touch. She joins forces with another girl, Milkit, and together they fight to survive in a harsh world that has been unkind to both of them. The story follows their journey of overcoming adversity and finding strength in a dark and fantastical setting.

‘Jack-of-All-Trades, Party of None’ (2026– )

The story centers around a hero who’s good at many things, but not an expert in any one skill. While powerful adventurers often overlook him, his adaptability proves crucial when facing difficult challenges and unpredictable threats. The plot emphasizes using a mix of smaller talents to succeed against overwhelming odds, offering a fresh take on the familiar fantasy world of RPGs by showing that a well-rounded skillset can be incredibly valuable.

‘Sentenced to Be a Hero’ (2026– )

This fantasy story flips the script: instead of noble heroes, it features criminals sentenced to fight for the greater good. As punishment, they’re magically compelled to battle the Demon King’s army. The story follows this unlikely group – known as the Penal Hero Unit – as they struggle with their past mistakes and reluctantly become the world’s defenders. It’s a dark and realistic take on the typical hero story, told from the point of view of those society has rejected.

‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ (2020– )

Yuji Itadori is a high school student who unexpectedly becomes host to Ryomen Sukuna, a tremendously powerful cursed spirit. He enrolls at Tokyo Jujutsu High to learn how to combat curses and, surprisingly, to find and consume the remaining pieces of Sukuna. The show is known for its exciting supernatural fights and thoughtful look at themes like death and what it means to be human. ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ remains incredibly popular thanks to its complex magic system and engaging character development.
