As a dedicated follower of Leonardo DiCaprio‘s illustrious career, I can confidently say that his journey to Hollywood stardom is nothing short of extraordinary. With six Academy Award nominations under his belt by 2024, it seems that the old adage “nine times out of ten” doesn’t apply to Leo!
Despite having attended numerous Academy Awards throughout his career, Leonardo DiCaprio has never grown accustomed to it, as he continues to find each nomination thrilling due to its exhilarating nature. As a 49-year-old actor, he has been honored with six Academy Award nominations for Best Actor by 2024.
At the red carpet preceding the 2020 Oscar ceremony, where he was recognized for his leading role in Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood,” Leonardo DiCaprio highlighted the significance of being nominated, as it bestowed honor upon him. According to People, he expressed that each nomination held a unique and distinct feeling for him.
The Titanic actor reflected on his multiple Oscar nominations, “It is that old cliché that its an honor to be nominated, but it really is.” He told Tamron Hall of ABC more about Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood, “When you work on these films for a long time you put everything you have into them to have other people recognize it like that, it’s a fantastic feeling.”
In the year 2015, Leonardo DiCaprio clinched the Best Actor Oscar due to his exceptional portrayal of Hugh Glass in The Revenant, a film masterfully directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu.
As a die-hard fanboy, I can’t help but rave about how Tarantino masterfully crafted an electrifying atmosphere during filming that truly brought out the best in everyone involved – especially when it came to his collaboration with Brad Pitt on Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood. In fact, Pitt himself felt such a deep connection with the man that I can’t help but feel the same way!
He even mentioned that they indeed shared this common understanding of how stuntman-actor dynamics should be portrayed. He stated, “Brad and I kind of came up in this industry around the same time, and we understood the dynamics of this relationship.” He elaborated on the duo’s ability to completely gel well with the stunt team. DiCaprio added, “We kind of fit into those shoes immediately which was fantastic and rare.”
As a dedicated follower, I’d express it like this: I admire Quentin Tarantino’s brilliance in portraying the shift from one era’s culture to another in the buddy film genre, creating a unique bond between him and Pitt. In his words, “I’m captivated by how he placed these two somewhat outcast characters amidst this cultural transformation in 1969, these buddies going through a transition.” He didn’t shy away from calling Tarantino a “genius” for pulling off such a masterful blend.
