As a die-hard fan who has followed the journey of these two iconic superheroes for years, I must say that Deadpool & Wolverine has truly outdone itself! The way they’ve managed to create an engaging and action-packed narrative while paying homage to their predecessors is nothing short of genius.
As a dedicated follower, I can’t help but express my excitement over the latest superhero masterpiece, Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman. This action-packed extravaganza has shattered records, becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie ever with an astounding $1.086 billion at the global box office. The film was filled with edge-of-your-seat moments, shocking cameos, and a thrilling adventure that kept me on the edge of my seat.
During an interview with IGN, Michael Green, one of the writers for Logan, shared his reaction upon viewing Deadpool & Wolverine’s opening scene, expressing surprise at what he witnessed.
In the initial scene of the film, Deadpool – played by Ryan Reynolds – excavates Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine from Logan. He then employs Wolverine’s adamantium skeleton to neutralize a group of Time Variance Authority agents, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.
According to the publication, Green stated, “People had cautioned me beforehand, ‘I’m not sure how you’ll react to the opening [of Deadpool & Wolverine],'” further mentioning, “I thought I knew what would transpire. And I was completely wrong! I hadn’t a clue they would go that far.” The Green Lantern author clarified, “The scene where they were digging him up and it was actually him wasn’t intended to be taken seriously.”
He also pointed out that the scene appeared less focused on altering Logan’s ending and more about the creators grappling with their reluctance to produce a film as excellent as they felt Logan was, which he viewed as a significant compliment. He underscored that the scene “felt entirely complementary” in nature.
Green mentioned that he enjoyed the movie tremendously, reminiscing about the time when he watched it in a packed theater, as the crowd went wild. He also commended the franchise for its quality. Additionally, he was glad to see that the sequel didn’t make any light-hearted comments regarding the 2011 Green Lantern (which he co-wrote), a film that received unfavorable critiques.
As a die-hard fanboy, I couldn’t help but feel my heart race when Hugh Jackman, the man himself, uploaded a nostalgic video on Instagram about the first day of filming Deadpool & Wolverine. In his heartfelt caption, he recalled the electric energy that surged through him as he set foot on the set, knowing full well that this was going to be an unforgettable journey.
Meanwhile, Deadpool & Wolverine is now running successfully in theaters.
