Rachel McAdams shone at the UK premiere of her new thriller, Send Help, in London on Thursday, January 29th. The Oscar-nominated actress looked stunning in a shimmering gown by Christopher Esber as she arrived at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square.
She was joined by co-star Dylan O’Brien, and the pair greeted each other with a warm hug for the cameras and excited fans. The film officially hits theaters on January 30th and marks a return to horror-thrillers for director Sam Raimi.
Raimi attended with his daughter, Emma Raimi, who also appears in the movie. Send Help follows Linda Liddle (McAdams) and Bradley Preston (O’Brien), two colleagues who dislike each other but are the only survivors of a plane crash.
Stranded on a deserted island, they must overcome their differences to survive, but their rescue mission quickly turns into a dark and unsettling psychological struggle. The film explores the changing relationship between the two as they’re pushed to their limits. McAdams plays a strategist with a hidden past in survival skills, and she soon gains power over her injured boss, leading to a tense battle of wits.
Early reviews have praised the chemistry between McAdams and O’Brien, with many noting that McAdams delivers a surprisingly dark performance. Filmed primarily in the Gulf of Thailand, the movie features a beautiful but dangerous setting. Raimi, known for films like Spider-Man and The Evil Dead, brought his signature style of suspense and chaotic energy to the production.

Rachel McAdams is having a particularly busy year after earning a Tony Award nomination for her Broadway performance in Mary Jane. She’s expressed a desire to take on more complex and diverse roles, and her new film, Send Help, reflects that ambition.
Dylan O’Brien remains a popular figure in action and thriller films, but he’s also expanding his range with an upcoming role in the biographical drama Being Heumann, directed by Sian Heder.
The film’s premiere was packed with stars, including acclaimed actor Dennis Haysbert and up-and-coming Edyll Ismail, who both have important roles in the movie’s opening scenes set in the corporate world.
Now playing in theaters worldwide, the movie is already drawing comparisons to classics like Misery and Cast Away, but offers a fresh, contemporary take on workplace dynamics. Fans of the director’s previous films will also enjoy spotting hidden references – or “Easter eggs” – throughout the scenes set on the island, which nod to his earlier, beloved work.
The project brings director Sam Raimi back together with frequent partners like composer Danny Elfman, who created the film’s eerie and captivating music. Combining intense action with a focus on the characters’ mental states, the movie is predicted to be a big success in theaters at the start of the year.
