As a seasoned gamer and avid Marvel fan with over three decades of comic book lore under my belt, I can confidently say that the Deadpool & Wolverine movie was a triumphant blend of humor, action, and Easter Eggs that truly resonated with the masses. The meta-references to Disney and Kevin Feige were hilarious and added another layer of depth to the film’s already intricate narrative.
For a multitude of enthusiasts, the highly anticipated film starring Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, titled Deadpool & Wolverine, has been a cinematic delight this year. Packed with numerous Easter Eggs, this blockbuster hit continues to run in theaters worldwide, with fans still eagerly searching and tallying them.
Besides the characters and Marvel allusions that are easy to spot, many Easter Eggs were cleverly concealed within the humor, with most of the jokes delivered by Deadpool himself. Given his tendency to break the fourth wall, these jokes frequently contained meta references, often aimed at Disney and Kevin Feige. In simpler terms, there were many inside jokes that referenced both Disney and Kevin Feige, which Deadpool often made due to his habit of interacting with the audience.
In a recent chat with Variety, the chief of Marvel Studios, the mastermind behind the Marvel Cinematic Universe, shared his thoughts on those jokes, and we’re about to share his response with you.
Deadpool initially poked fun at Disney and Marvel’s Kevin Feige from the get-go, with one of the earliest jokes revolving around cocaine. In essence, Deadpool humorously claimed that Feige himself prohibited the use of cocaine in the film production, suggesting that it would be impossible for Deadpool and Blind Al to work around this ban since Feige supposedly possessed a comprehensive list of all synonyms for cocaine. Here’s what Kevin Feige had to say about this:
In the Deadpool trailer, he cracks a joke about you mentioning cocaine as something out of bounds. Is it true that you actually said that?
I didn’t express they couldn’t do something, but we were discussing the fear of making things too Disney-like. Being the largest entertainment company for a century, you’d be fortunate to have everything Disney-fied! However, when people say that, they usually mean softening rough edges. We were open to all possibilities. I mentioned there were certain aspects that could change or evolve over time. After repeating a joke 28 times, it may not remain as amusing. I might be a bit old-fashioned regarding drug use. Yet, I casually expressed it wasn’t particularly funny. Ryan, of course, saves potential jokes for later, and he incorporated that into the script.

In the movie’s finale, a humorous reference was made when Deadpool teased Wolverine about playing his role until he turned 90. This was a witty nod to the fact that Deadpool was actually referring to Hugh Jackman, who portrays Wolverine in real life. However, since Wolverine is unfamiliar with “Hugh Jackman” and is approximately 200 years old, some viewers speculate whether he understood the joke at all.
The way he looked at him like “bitch…I’m 200 years old”

He was born in 1832, which means he is currently around 192 years old. Given his age, it’s safe to say he’s well beyond the 90-year mark. It’s quite remarkable how much history he’s lived through!

Among my preferred jokes that break the fourth wall, this one stands out because it left everyone in that room puzzled, as if to say “what on earth is he referring to, this guy looks like he’s 200!”
