Lindsay Lohan recently opened up about the challenges of growing up famous in Hollywood. In an interview with Vogue Arabia, the 39-year-old actress looked back on her teenage years and wondered why there wasn’t more support to protect her. She admitted she now questions why no one stepped in to help her navigate the pressures of fame. Lohan explained that as a young teenager, she didn’t have the experience to advocate for herself in such a demanding industry.
She first became well-known at age 12 in the 1998 film The Parent Trap, and quickly starred in popular movies like Freaky Friday and Mean Girls. Lohan described her time in Los Angeles during those years as both exciting and difficult, explaining that the constant attention and lack of boundaries eventually led her to seek a different lifestyle.
Lindsay Lohan’s search for peace led her to move to Dubai in 2014, and she’s found the city to be very stabilizing for her and her family. It was in Dubai that she met her husband, Bader Shammas, a Kuwaiti financier, and they now have a young son named Luai. She feels the move gave her a much-needed fresh start, allowing her to live more freely without constantly worrying about what others think. She describes her relationship with Shammas as a calming force that complements her energetic personality.

Lindsay Lohan is experiencing a major comeback in her career. She recently returned to the big screen in August 2025 with the hit sequel Freakier Friday, reuniting with Jamie Lee Curtis to play their iconic characters, Anna and Tess Coleman. The film also brought back original cast members Chad Michael Murray and Mark Harmon, and showed Lohan’s character as a mother balancing family life.
Later this year, Lohan will star in a leading role for television in the new Hulu limited series Count My Lies. Based on the thriller novel by Sophie Stava, the show features Lohan as Violet Lockhart, the head of a wealthy family whose life is disrupted by a new nanny, played by Shailene Woodley. The series also stars Kit Harington, known from Game of Thrones, and is being created by the team behind the popular show This Is Us.
Beyond her TV roles, Lindsay Lohan is continuing her successful relationship with Netflix, building on the popularity of her romantic comedies, Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish. She’s expressed feeling much more confident in shaping her characters, which she says has made her work more enjoyable. “I didn’t used to be comfortable sharing my thoughts about a character,” she explained, “but I really love that part now.”
