Who Was Grace Bentkowski? 22-Year-Old TV Producer Passes Away After Getting Hit By Train In Chicago

As an ardent follower of the journalism world, the news of Grace Bentkowski‘s tragic demise has left me utterly shattered and profoundly saddened. I had only just begun to follow her meteoric rise through the ranks at NewsNation, a testament to her relentless dedication and passion for her craft.

NewsNation employee Grace Bentkowski tragically passed away in a train incident last month. The talented journalist unfortunately met her end when she was struck by a train in Chicago. According to reports from FOX59, Deadline, and WGN-TV, Bentkowski worked as a content creator and producer for the network, and her unfortunate demise occurred at the Hegewisch South Shore station on July 25.

As for her, I, being an ardent follower, refer to none other than Jonathan Killian, who holds the esteemed positions of Vice President and Creative Marketing & Brand Standards within our network, have labeled her as a shining beacon on the rise in a statement that I was fortunate enough to acquire by PEOPLE.

According to Killian, it was evident that Grace had a remarkable interest in journalism and a knack for learning, and this trait consistently impressed her coworkers. Furthermore, Grace’s presence always inspired her colleagues and she possessed an enchanting charm that captivated everyone who was in the room with her.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she began working for NewsNation in May, coinciding with her graduation from Ball State University in Indiana.

According to her family, Grace sent a message to them prior to her passing. They shared with WGN-TV that Grace informed them she was heading out shopping since she finished work earlier than usual.

Initially employed at NewsNation, situated in downtown Chicago, this journalist was said to have embarked on a journey back to her residence in Dyer, Indiana. Tragically, upon disembarking from the train at Hegewisch station, she encountered an unfortunate incident.

As a dedicated follower, I found myself among the passengers walking across the train tracks en route to the parking lot today, following the path taken by others before me. Unfortunately, in my case, a pillar blocked my view, and as fate would have it, I was Grace – the late journalist – this time around. She was attempting to keep pace with those in front of her, unaware of the danger lurking ahead due to the obstructed view.

Phil Bentkowski, his father, mentioned to a news outlet that there seemed to be a delay on the South Shore website and simultaneously, he monitored his daughter through Life360. At first, he wasn’t sure if it was his daughter, but a sense of unease quickly grew within him, leading him to believe she might have been struck by a train.

Later on, he traveled the entire distance to the University of Chicago and spoke with “the District 3 Police Department, also known as transit officers,” who subsequently inquired whether he was connected to Grace.

Initially, Grace was still alive when they brought her to the University of Chicago Medical Center. However, during the operation, it wasn’t long before she was declared deceased.

As per Deadline, Grace Bentkowski suffered internal injuries following the accident.
