In a conversation, Hough and host Dax Shepard discussed the challenges they faced when Hough was dating Seacrest, who is 49 years old and prominent in both TV and radio. Hough expressed concern that their relationship might give off the wrong impression, considering Seacrest’s high profile in the entertainment industry.

Hough stated, “I felt like the ground gave way beneath me, leaving me to soar through uncharted experiences. Yet, there was a nagging doubt within me, fearing people might assume I was associated with him due to those reasons.”

Previously, Hough expressed that while Seacrest, the American Idol host, is a charming individual, she had reservations about people exploiting him. She aimed to avoid being seen in a similar light. Hough first encountered Seacrest when she appeared on his radio show alongside her then-boyfriend, Chuck Wicks. Yet, their relationship didn’t begin until the summer of 2010, following her split with Wicks.

After parting ways with Seacrest in 2013, Dancing with the Stars alumna Hough chose to focus on her personal achievements as a reflection of her own hard work rather than attributing them to her relationship with him. Some individuals speculated that their connection played a significant role in shaping her life, but she felt it was essential for her success to be earned independently.

In the latter part of the same year, Hough started a relationship with ice hockey player Brooks Laich. The couple tied the knot in 2017; however, they initiated a separation process in 2020 and officially ended their marriage in 2022.
