As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of gaming under my belt, I can confidently say that Elden Ring has truly outdone itself with the release of ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’. Having tackled some of the toughest bosses in the Souls series, I thought I had seen it all. But boy, was I wrong! The Golden Hippopotamus, Romina, Saint of the Bud, Promised Consort Radahn, Divine Beast Dancing Lion, Putrescent Knight, and Messmer, The Impaler have given me quite the run for my money. And let’s not forget about Promised Consort Radahn in the Shadow Realm, who’s been causing quite a stir among the gaming community.

Approximately two years have passed since Elden Ring hit the market with widespread praise. In a brief period, it accumulated numerous game awards, but as the initial excitement waned, it slipped out of sight for several gamers. However, that changed when the ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ expansion was unveiled, making it an opportune moment to reconsider playing Elden Ring again.

Back in June, ‘Shadow of the Erdtree’ made its debut, receiving widespread praise much like the original game. This expansion offers a wealth of fresh content, including 70 new weapons, 10 shields, 30 armor sets, novel consumables and craftables, but what stands out most are the addition of new areas, gameplay mechanics, quests, and adversaries.

As a gamer, I’d say some of the most challenging foes in this expansion are the Golden Hippopotamus, Romina the Bud Saint, Promised Consort Radahn, the Divine Beast Dancing Lion, the Putrescent Knight, and Messmer, The Impaler. But if you ask around, many gamers would agree that Promised Consort Radahn, lurking in the Shadow Realm, is the hardest boss I’ve encountered so far.

Upon starting the expansion for the first time, it may initially seem daunting due to the abundance of unfamiliar territories and the complexity of each new zone, which progressively becomes more challenging and captivating. If you’re a seasoned Elden Ring player or have some familiarity with the game, navigating through should be straightforward; however, if you’re new, there are numerous guides available online to help you along.

The expansion also features a new progression system for the Realm of Shadow, allowing players to develop new strengths. Exploring the Lands Between offers countless secrets, hidden areas, optional bosses, and new side quests,you can theoretically expand your gameplay for dozens of hours. For those who prefer to just stick to the “main story” and want to do it as fast as possible, the New Game Plus system gives you that option. Players can take various paths to the game’s end, with different alliances leading to unexpected outcomes. 

It’s now an excellent moment to embark or carry on your adventure in Elden Ring. However, prior to setting off, you must first buy the base game, which is accessible across all significant platforms and retailers.
