14th of August, six days after the release of the song, the Balearic Island Environmental Department announced their intention to investigate potential environmental harm caused by the music video filming activities of Katy Perry and her team. The Spanish press release stated that damage was done to the beach during the filming process. The visuals from the music video show Perry playing in the sand dunes of S’Espalmador island, which are protected by rope barriers.
The Environmental Department made it clear that the filming in question doesn’t constitute an “ecological crime,” but instead represents a breach of regulations. This situation could have been prevented with the right permits. They underscored that if filmmakers follow the necessary procedures, similar projects can receive approval.
The TV series titled “Lifetimes,” airing from August 8, showcases an adventurous journey of Perry in Ibiza. Footage captures her dancing at different nightspots, throwing pizza towards a gathering during her DJ performance, and even riding on the back of a motorcycle.
The song is a second single released ahead of her upcoming sixth studio album titled “143,” which means “I Love You.” It’s set to be released on September 20 through Capitol Records. The music video for Lifetimes was directed by Stillz, and the track itself was produced by Dr. Luke.
