As a dedicated Star Wars fan and a father myself, I can certainly relate to Diego Luna‘s dilemma. Just like him, I too have attempted to share the magic of Star Wars with my young one, only to be met with indifference or bewilderment. Yet, as Luna rightly pointed out, patience is key. Time does pass, and eventually, those lightsabers and X-wings will start to shine brighter in their eyes.
When Diego Luna attempted to watch Star Wars with his six-year-old son, Jerónimo, he wasn’t prepared for what followed. Despite Luna’s deep affection for the movie, young Jerónimo promptly exited the room, leaving his dad perplexed. In an interview with PEOPLE magazine, Luna talked about his part in the Disney+ series Andor, a prequel to the 2016 film Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, and how his son’s indifference towards the franchise was starkly different from his own fervor.
The actor recounted the moment when he first played Star Wars for his son, and it turned out to be premature since the child walked away, leaving him alone to watch the movie. He shared this anecdote with the media outlet, explaining that his son was too young to grasp the film’s content. Luna admitted that he felt compelled to introduce Star Wars to his son because it holds significant value for him.
Expressing it as a heartfelt sentiment, he mentioned that it was fortunate for him that Jerónimo developed an appreciation for the Star Wars movies as he matured, allowing them to share those memories together.
Initially planned for release this year, the second season of Andor has been postponed until next year because of production issues. Earlier, it was disclosed that the show would conclude with only two seasons, implying that there won’t be any more after that. In an interview with Variety, Luna shared his thoughts, stating that the limited run of the series is crucial for his wellbeing and he wants to fully immerse himself in this project.
Absolutely, there’s a lot to look forward to as we approach the beginning of the next season for Rogue One, according to Luna. He’s teased fans with plenty of intriguing content coming up, particularly for those who enjoyed the 2016 film. “This second season will be quite rich because all the stories are relevant today,” Luna stated, confirming every plot line and wrapping things up. Essentially, it’s a true team effort.
