‘Anything Could Happen’: Beetlejuice Beetlejuice Cast Eyes a Third Movie

As a die-hard Beetlejuice fan since the ’80s, I can barely contain my excitement for the upcoming sequel! It’s been three decades since we last saw Michael Keaton’s unforgettable ghost with the most, and I’ve spent countless nights rewatching that classic film.

As a diehard fan, I can hardly contain my excitement as Beetlejuice, a character I’ve adored for nearly three decades, returns to our screens with a long-awaited sequel, “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”! This new film brings back the unforgettable ghostly charm of Michael Keaton, the enchanting Winona Ryder, and the hysterical Catherine O’Hara. While we might be hoping for a full-blown franchise, it seems that the talented Tommy Harper is determined to deliver just one “outstanding movie.” I can hardly wait!

It’s uncertain if another movie will be made, as Tim Burton prioritizes rekindling the original’s essence over creating a franchise. Soon, fans can determine if the follow-up film matches the quality of its predecessor.

In 2019, the upcoming second installment leaves fans wondering if there might be a third movie or possibly an entire series, but the creators of Beetlejuice are hesitant to confirm this.

Producer Tommy Harper mentions that they haven’t yet considered future possibilities; instead, their focus is on creating an exceptional film. He encourages everyone to put forth their best efforts, emphasizing that unforeseen opportunities may arise afterward.

Tim Burton appears hesitant when it comes to the concept of a Beetlejuice franchise, and he’s not fond of drawing comparisons between the sequel and the original. He jokingly comments, “I don’t know. It would make me sound like William Castle—’the biggest, the greatest, the most fabulous motion picture since Glen or Glenda!'” Instead, Burton expresses that he simply feels good about the project, and it was a positive experience for him because it preserved the spirit and essence of the original film.

1988 saw the debut of the film where Michael Keaton’s Ghost with the Most, a spirit conjured by a deceased couple to scare away newcomers, the Deetz family, made his appearance. In Beetlejuice 2, or officially Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Astrid Deetz, Lydia’s teenage daughter (portrayed by Jenna Ortega), encounters this spook in a sequel setback at the very house in Winter River where the Deetzes revisit.

As a lifestyle expert reflecting on the potential of a third film in this franchise, it’s intriguing to consider how it might unfold given the director’s penchant for originality. With timeless classics like Edward Scissorhands and Mars Attacks remaining untouched by sequels despite enthusiastic fan demands, it’s clear that unconventional storytelling is his forte. However, as Harper wisely points out, “anything can happen.” So, if the opportunity arises, I envision a fresh, innovative take on the franchise that honors its roots while pushing the boundaries of cinematic artistry.

In the upcoming movie titled “Beetlejuice,” Winona Ryder reprises her role as Lydia, while Catherine O’Hara continues to portray Lydia’s stepmother, Delia. Also returning are Ortega and Keaton. Joining this stellar cast for the first time are Willem Dafoe from “Poor Things,” Justin Theroux known for his role in “Mulholland Drive,” and Monica Bellucci, famous for her work in “The Matrix.” The movie is set to hit theaters on September 6.
