As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience in the entertainment industry, I must say that Bad Boys: Ride or Die has truly outdone itself. Having seen the rise and fall of many franchises, it is a breath of fresh air to witness one that not only maintains its charm but also evolves with time.
Approaching its cinema release, the movie “Bad Boys: Ride or Die” has achieved a significant milestone – it surpassed $400 million at the worldwide box office less than three months after debuting. This puts it in the company of only two other films in the franchise, with “Bad Boys for Life” (2020) being the first to reach this figure, earning an impressive $426.5 million.
What better way to mark the milestone than to earn a stamp of approval from renowned writer Stephen King. The legendary scribe took to X (formerly Twitter) to shower praises for Bad Boys: Ride or Die. “ That was a lot of fun. Martin Lawrence always makes me laugh,” he wrote, with a special mention to one of the film’s leading heroes.
The movie “Bad Boys,” featuring Will Smith and Lawrence, achieved tremendous success at the box office, accumulating more than $1.2 billion globally for the franchise. This blockbuster film garnered positive ratings and reviews from both viewers and critics, making it an all-around hit.
In its most recent release, the new edition garnered an unprecedented 97% audience approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and received positive reviews from critics. This triumph came as a significant comeback for Smith following his controversial incident at the 2022 Oscars, where he infamously struck the show’s host Chris Rock over a joke.
In the subsequent film, Smith and Lawrence resumed their characters as Miami narcotics detectives, Detective Lieutenant Mike Lowrey and Detective Lieutenant Marcus Burnett. This formidable pair embark on a feud with corrupt law enforcement officials, determined to uphold the honor of police chief Captain Conrad Howard (portrayed by Joe Pantoliano).
Since 1995, this dynamic pair has been an integral part of the franchise, and their return was made all the more exciting due to that longstanding association. The film directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Vanessa Hudgens, Dennis McDonald, Tasha Smith, Tiffany Haddish, Alexander Ludwig, Jacob Scipio, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffuud, and Paola Núñez.
Bad Boys: Ride or Die is currently running in theaters.
