13 Classic Marvel Games Heading to Modern Consoles

You might be confused by the claim (originally reported by Newsweek) that there are 13 games. It doesn’t seem to add up at first glance. The catch is that the count includes different versions of the same game released on various consoles or handheld devices. Here’s the official game list and Limited Run’s explanation.

The MARVEL MaXimum Collection is a thrilling compilation of 13 classic Marvel games originally released on consoles, handheld devices, and arcades! It even features the beloved X-Men: The Arcade Game. Enhanced with new music by renowned composer Chris Huelsbeck and packed with extra features, this collection is a fantastic trip down memory lane for Marvel fans.

  • X-Men: The Arcade Game
  • Spider-Man/X-Men: Arcade’s Revenge
  • Captain America and the Avengers
  • Spider-Man/Venom: Maximum Carnage
  • Venom/Spider-Man: Separation Anxiety
  • Silver Surfer

Additional crime-busting features:

  • Rollback Netcode in X-Men: The Arcade Game
  • Save Anywhere
  • In-Game Rewind
  • Museum
  • Cheat Menus
  • And More!

Like many game collections from the late 80s and early 90s, this one features a lot of X-Men and Spider-Man titles. Luckily, these are often fan favorites, with the original X-Men arcade game being a standout. You’ll likely appreciate the rewind and cheat options, especially when playing the NES Silver Surfer game, which is notorious for being incredibly difficult – even driving the Angry Video Game Nerd to frustration. Though, to be fair, most of the games in this collection are quite challenging!

Although a specific release date hasn’t been announced, the Marvel MaXimum Collection is planned for PS5, Xbox, Switch, and PC (through Steam).
