As a dedicated fan who has followed Kit Harrington’s journey since Game of Thrones, it’s heartening to see him back in action with Industry. After the less-than-stellar finale of GOT and a brief stint in Eternals that felt like a cameo, this role feels like a well-deserved comeback for the talented actor.
I’ve returned to the screen with HBO’s gripping drama “Industry,” where I’m part of a competitive group of graduates aiming for a spot at a renowned investment bank. Following the less-than-satisfactory response to the final season of “Game of Thrones” and a brief stint in “Marvel’s Eternals,” this role provides me with a strong resurgence I was yearning for!
In the short stint of MCU’s Eternals, he took on the role of Dane Whitman, paving the way for him to eventually transform into Black Knight, a less mainstream yet cherished Marvel character. Unfortunately, due to lackluster ticket sales, any potential future developments for his character have been put on hold indefinitely.
In an interview with GQ, Harrington admitted that he chose to be part of the film primarily because it was linked to one of the most prominent superhero series. “I won’t pretend I took on the role because it was unique and captivating,” he joked. “If Marvel comes calling, you just have to oblige.”
The movie, Eternals, focuses on a group of ancient, powerful, and immortal entities who’ve concealed themselves among humans for centuries. However, when a looming catastrophe arises, they are compelled to reveal their identities and unite against a shared adversary.
In addition to Harrington, the movie featured his Game of Thrones colleague and on-screen brother Richard Madden portraying Ikaris. The ensemble also included Angelina Jolie, Barry Keoghan, Hannah Dodd, Gemma Chan, Salma Hayek, Kumail Nanjiani, and a brief appearance by Harry Styles.
Harrington may have appeared in the MCU briefly, yet his recent work on Industry holds great personal significance for him. Despite joining the series during its third season, he’s long been a dedicated fan. He expressed to the media that it was “exceptionally unique.”
Upon discovering his potential involvement with the program, writers Mickey Down and Konrad Kay swiftly invited a well-known figure, waiving the need for an audition. This unexpected move left the actor feeling uneasy.
He mentioned that when he steps onto a film set, there’s an undercurrent of doubt – “Is he the right choice?” and the weight of “Will what I do be suitable for them?”. Fortunately, he silenced all doubts by giving one of his finest performances since Game of Thrones.
Industry Season 3 is available to stream on Max or Jio Cinema.
