As an ardent fan who’s been following the journey of Subaru Natsuki and his friends since the early days of the Re:ZERO light novels, this latest key visual for Season 3 has sent a wave of excitement coursing through me! The sight of Subaru and Emilia embracing amidst a field of flowers is just too heartwarming. And let’s not forget those familiar faces lurking in the background – Beatrice, Otto Suwen, and Garfiel Tinsel. I can almost hear their distinctive dialogues echoing in my mind!
On their official platform, formerly Twitter and now webpage, the team behind Re:ZERO Season 3 unveiled a primary image for the upcoming show. In this image, Subaru Natsuki and Emilia are seen affectionately embracing amidst a blooming field of flowers. Additionally, three other characters from the series can be spotted in the backdrop.
The image additionally provided information about the upcoming 90-minute episode of Re:ZERO Season 3, which is scheduled to debut in October 2024. Interestingly, before its television premiere, it will have a theatrical release in Japan on August 30, 2024. Re:ZERO Season 3 serves as a continuation following the conclusion of the previous season, which was divided into two installments.
In addition to the primary figures, Beatrice, Otto Suwen, and Garfiel Tinsel (Fredericka’s younger brother), are noticeably present in the distance. The group appears to be taking in the stunning scenery before them. The image also contains a message that, upon translation, reads, ‘Rise up against the greatest calamity, however often it may occur.’
Following the unauthorized premiere leak, the visual emerged as one of the most significant scandals to hit the anime industry in recent memory. The leaked episode was of poor quality, bearing watermarks and timestamp imprints. Crunchyroll, in their official statement, disclosed that they have initiated an internal probe and are actively working towards removing the leaks from circulation.
Regarding Re:ZERO Season 3: This new season will follow the fifth story arc from the light novel series, titled “The Stars That Engrave History.” The story is penned by Tappei Nagatsuki and illustrated by Shin’ichirō Ōtsuka. Originally a web novel, it was later adapted into manga in 2014. The first two seasons of Re:ZERO were animated under the direction of Masaharu Watanabe, who will once again serve as the series composer for this upcoming season.
White Fox Studio is set to create the series, with Haruka Sagawa handling both the animation and character design aspects. Kenichiro Suehiro will contribute music for the production, while Yusuke Kobayashi, Rie Takahashi, Koehi Amasaki, Satomi Arai, Yuichi Makamura, and Nobuhiko Okamoto will return to voice their respective characters.
