As a Star Wars enthusiast who has spent countless hours immersed in the galaxy far, far away, I can hardly contain my excitement for Jon Favreau’s upcoming feature film, The Mandalorian and Grogu! With Pedro Pascal reprising his role as Din Djarin and Baby Yoda by our side, this is a dream come true.
At the D23 Expo in Anaheim, Jon Favreau shared unique clips of the upcoming Star Wars show, The Mandalorian, which stars Pedro Pascal. In this production, we’ll see Din Djarin, a masked bounty hunter, and his companion – affectionately known as ‘Baby Yoda’, from the widely-loved Disney Plus series.
Jon Favreau, the director, and Dave Filoni, the executive producer, have hinted that there are more exciting adventures ahead for fans of The Mandalorian, despite the series being in production for just a few weeks. As a special treat for viewers, they shared a sneak peek of Din Djarin and Grogu’s future galactic escapades in a galaxy far, far away.
As stated by Variety, Favreau hinted that the upcoming movie would embark on a fresh journey within the characters’ ongoing storyline.
At D23, the crowd erupted in applause when Babu Frik emerged, navigating a compact craft with Grogu aboard, sending him off with well-wishes for success. The clip also showcased Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios reappearing from Star Wars Rebels, standing alongside Din Djarin.
Fans rejoiced to see the Razor Crest back in operation, despite it being previously destroyed by Moff Gideon. This vessel made its debut in seasons 1 and 2 of The Mandalorian. Among other exciting moments were encounters with snowtroopers, AT-ATs, and Baby Yoda sandwiched between two Azellans – a nod to his growing bond during season 3 of The Mandalorian.
Jon Favreau’s “The Mandalorian” featuring Grogu marks the initial major-screen adaptation stemming from the Disney+ series, as Favreau assumes the role of director.
The movie is being made by Favreau along with Kathleen Kennedy (President of Lucasfilm) and Dave Filoni (Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm). The Mandalorian series has been well-received, and it’s been confirmed that a fourth season will be produced. This season will feature connections to Ahsoka and other Star Wars shows on Disney+.
The film is scheduled for release in theaters on May 22, 2026. While no confirmed information about the cast or schedule has been released yet, some sources suggest that Sigourney Weaver and Pedro Pascal might be part of the project, as reported by a certain media outlet.
