Here Are All the Movies & TV Shows Coming to Disney+ This Week, Including a Great Documentary Series

This week, Disney+ is adding more shows and movies, including documentaries and content for families. Subscribers can enjoy new episodes of National Geographic series about police work and forensic science, plus a classic animated special from Disney Junior. These additions offer something for everyone, with both educational and fun options. Look for these titles to become available between February 23rd and March 1st.

‘To Catch a Smuggler’ (2020)

As a total documentary fan, I’m really looking forward to this new National Geographic series hitting Disney+ this Thursday, February 26th. It goes behind the scenes with the people at U.S. Customs and Border Protection and Homeland Security Investigations – basically, it shows you what it’s like to be on the front lines protecting our borders. The show follows officers as they check everything coming into the country – cargo, travelers, you name it – trying to stop illegal goods and even human trafficking. It’s fascinating to see the clever techniques they use to keep us safe, and this series originally aired back in 2012, so it’s a look at how things were handled then.

‘Ancient Autopsy’ (2025)

This new series, debuting February 27th, uses the latest forensic science to investigate the lives and deaths of historical figures. By employing techniques like CT scans and DNA analysis, experts are able to uncover how these individuals died and piece together their stories. The show aims to solve long-standing historical mysteries using modern science, offering viewers a look at the biological and cultural details revealed by well-preserved remains like mummies discovered at archaeological digs.

‘Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess’ (2012)

“Sofia the First: Once Upon a Princess” is an animated movie that also kicks off the popular Disney Junior series. It premieres on February 27th and tells the story of Sofia, an ordinary girl whose life turns extraordinary when her mother marries King Roland II. With guidance from teachers at Royal Prep Academy and a visit from Cinderella, Sofia learns what it means to be a princess, focusing on lessons about kindness, bravery, and the importance of family.

‘Danger Decoded’ (2015)

This series, premiering Saturday, February 28th, explores dramatic disasters and close calls caught on camera. Each episode uses real footage from around the world to break down the science behind accidents and incredible survival stories. Experts analyze key moments to show what caused things to go wrong – or right. The show offers an educational look at how we assess risk and the physics at play in modern accidents.
