Before we even started filming, we had a long, star-studded list of potential appearances – names that would’ve made quite a spectacle if they all made it to the final roster. Were there any legacy characters you wanted in the film but that ultimately didn’t pan out?

When stepping into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with a wealth of characters at your disposal, self-discipline becomes crucial. Our aim was to craft a movie filled with genuine warmth rather than intense emotion or sadness. For this, we needed to care deeply about these characters ourselves. We aimed to avoid getting too lost in the complexities of the multiverse, keeping our focus on what truly matters. We exercised restraint and caution in our storytelling. Many characters that appeared in early drafts remained consistent throughout the script-writing process.

As a gamer, it clicked when Pyro was introduced because we all knew Johnny Storm would be in the movie. After all, who else has the superheroic flair with fire? That’s right, Pyro. On a more personal note, our co-writer Zeb Wells couldn’t resist his love for Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth. He penned him into an early draft and kept it in because it ignited his passion – and once he was fired up, the rest of us followed suit.

During the initial eight months of planning, characters such as Blob and Azazel underwent development. A quick debate ensued regarding whether to feature Vinnie Jones as Juggernaut or opt for a CGI version. However, we decided that with Aaron Stanford, Tyler, Jen, and Wesley already returning, it would be more interesting to introduce another actor to play Juggernaut and keep the character non-CGI. Thus, Aaron Reed, known for his role as Dude in “Free Guy,” was cast.
