‘They Really Went For It’: Here’s What Happened At Kate Middleton And Prince William’s Wedding Beyond The Public Eye

As a lifestyle expert with a penchant for all things royal, I must say that Robert Jobson’s latest book, Catherine, the Princess of Wales, is a treasure trove of unseen stories from within the walls of the Royal Family. His insights into Prince William and Kate Middleton‘s wedding, particularly the intimate details of their post-wedding celebrations, are fascinating.

Once again, we welcome back renowned royal biographer Robert Jobson, who’s recently published a fresh new book filled with captivating, behind-the-scenes tales from the Royal Family. In this latest work called “Catherine, the Princess of Wales,” he offers unique insights into one of the most eagerly anticipated royal weddings ever – the union between Prince William and Kate Middleton.

On the 29th of April, 2011, I was fortunate enough to be one of the 1900 guests who witnessed the magical moment when they said “I do.” But let me tell you a secret, fellow fan, there were hidden gems in that wedding day that slipped past the public eye. Here’s a peek into the unseen and unnoticed moments from their joyous celebrations.

As an ardent admirer who was fortunate enough to be among the 1900 attendees at the royal wedding, I must share my experience about the receptions that followed. Compared to the grand ceremony, far fewer individuals graced these events held on subsequent days. The first reception, a magnificent affair hosted by Queen Elizabeth herself, saw 650 guests in attendance. But it was the second reception, subtly intimate, that truly took my breath away. Held within the hallowed Throne Room of Buckingham Palace and orchestrated by none other than Prince Charles (now King Charles), 300 fortunate souls were invited to partake in this unforgettable occasion.

Jobson’s latest book describes an evening’s event as being “the most enchanting party one could imagine.” The author adds that only William and Kate’s dearest friends received invitations, and the entertainment for the night featured a band led by Ellie Goulding, who happens to be the couple’s favorite musician. Following their first dance, Goulding performed Elton John’s “Your Song” and admitted in the book that she found the experience “daunting.” She confessed, “My hands were trembling with nerves.”

Goulding performed her well-known song Starry Eyed, a cover of Mr. Brightside by The Killers (which is another favorite of theirs), among others, as per Jobson’s reports. It’s said that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, freshly wedded, enjoyed dancing and singing to She Loves You by The Beatles before wrapping up the evening with a fireworks display.

In 2011, a visitor shared with People that William and Kate were right in the thick of things, putting their best effort forward. They truly immersed themselves in the celebration. They embraced the festive mood and didn’t leave until the very end.

As recounted by Jobson about Catherine, Princess of Wales, Prince William and Kate had an exciting surprise saved for the grand finale: “They stood hand in hand on the dance floor, beaming, only to have the music from ‘You’re the One That I Want’ from Grease fill the room. William and Catherine then started dancing playfully, mimicking the characters Danny and Sandy, pointing at each other and lip-syncing the lyrics. The audience erupted in applause.”

Jobson’s new book discloses some unexpected details, such as Prince William ending his relationship with Kate Middleton via a phone call in 2007 while he was serving in the military, and just before the public anticipated their engagement announcement by the British media. Additionally, the book explains that Kate had reservations about accepting the title of Princess of Wales, fearing the challenging comparisons to her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana, who previously held this title.

In an unexpected disclosure, the book details a heated argument between Prince William and Meghan Markle, allegedly triggered by tensions between her and Kate during Kate’s pregnancy. Meghan is said to have told William, “Please, remove your finger from my face.”

Additionally, the book disclosed that Kate had experienced significant health problems during her teenage years, which included undergoing surgery on a growth detected in her skull.
