When Henry Cavill Revealed He Would Like To Change THIS Scene From Man Of Steel

As a die-hard fan who has followed Henry Cavill‘s Superman journey from its inception, I must say his career choices have been nothing short of heroic. However, if given a chance to rewind time, he’d tweak that smiley scene with Martha in Man of Steel – a decision that, in retrospect, left him feeling as awkward as Clark Kent in a tuxedo.

In interviews, Henry Cavill expressed pride in the career choices he’s made but admitted there’s one aspect of his portrayal as Superman in Man of Steel he’d like to alter. A 2021 interview with The Hollywood Reporter unveiled that Cavill would modify a specific scene from the film if given the chance.

The interviewer asked, “What is a decision you wish you had made differently?”, and Cavill responded, “Every decision I made led me here, but when portraying Clark Kent in Man of Steel, I wasn’t entirely satisfied with the way my smile appeared while speaking to Martha, played by Diane Lane.”

At the closing of Man of Steel, Cavil expresses his thoughts: “If I were in that scene with Martha, I would’ve smiled in a different way. Every time I rewatch it, I can’t help but feel annoyed by that smile. It’s simply not a smile I’d choose. If given the chance, I would have expressed my emotions differently.”

2013 brought a blend of positive and negative critic responses towards Man of Steel. While the visual aspects were widely praised, the scriptwriting and the portrayal of Superman killing General Zod, played by Michael Shannon, received criticism that sparked controversy among fans as well. However, these issues didn’t hinder Warner Bros from earning a staggering $668 million worldwide, setting the foundation for Zack Snyder’s DC Extended Universe.

In the movies Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017), Henry Cavill reprised his character as Superman. Unfortunately, both films had poor showings at the box office. As a result, Warner Bros altered their approach to DC film productions by reducing Snyder’s involvement. However, in 2021, Snyder released an edited version of Justice League, giving viewers another chance to watch Henry Cavill portray Superman once more.

In the aftermath of Man of Steel, it wasn’t anticipated that Superman, portrayed by Cavill, would return; however, he subtly hinted to his followers that the costume remains in his closet, ready to be worn again. Meanwhile, Cavill expressed his desire to assume the role of Captain Britain within the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
