Is Channing Tatum’s Gambit Movie Happening After Deadpool and Wolverine Fame? Here’s What We Know

As a long-time comic book enthusiast who grew up with X-Men comics gracing my shelves, I must say that seeing Deadpool 3 unite Wade Wilson and Logan on screen was nothing short of exhilarating! The chemistry between Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman was electrifying, and the cameos from other beloved Marvel characters only added to the excitement.

In the third installment of their film series, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’s movies featuring Deadpool and Wolverine have been a saving grace for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which was facing some tough times. Despite challenges, Deadpool 3 has performed exceptionally well at the box office, helping the MCU avoid an awkward streak of low-performing films. The movie continues to draw interest from viewers.

In this movie, we see two characters who couldn’t be more different – Deadpool, also known as Wade Wilson, and Wolverine, or Logan. One dons a red suit, while the other is adorned in yellow. The anticipation for this film has been high ever since Deadpool was dubbed Marvel’s Jesus. Not only is the movie drawing crowds to the theater, but its humor, surprise appearances, and cameos make it even more captivating.

In the upcoming movie, there are numerous versions of Deadpool and Wolverine, plus a host of Marvel Cinematic Universe characters reappearing. Among them are X-23, Blade, Electra, and Channing Tatum portraying Gambit. This has sparked curiosity among viewers about whether Tatum might eventually star in his own Gambit film.

A popular post circulating on social media shows Channing Tatum portraying Gambit on a movie poster, suggesting that he could soon star in his own film following the success of Deadpool and Wolverine. Yet, there’s been no official word from the studios regarding this possibility. It’s common knowledge, though, that Tatum has long been pursuing a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In the 1990 comic series “The Uncanny X-Men Annual,” written by Chris Claremont and illustrated by Jim Lee, Gambit made his first appearance. Yet, when the film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” was released by 20th Century Fox in 2009, the character of Gambit was introduced, but Taylor Kitsch, who played Fly Me To The Moon, was not available to portray him at that time.

In 2014, producer Lauren Shuler Donner expressed her intention to have Channing Tatum play Gambit in a standalone film. Despite the excitement surrounding this project, it unfortunately never came to fruition. Over time, various directors were attached to the project and other cast members joined as well. However, when Disney acquired 20th Century Fox, they decided not to proceed with making the movie. Fans got a taste of Tatum’s portrayal of Gambit through Deadpool and Wolverine instead.

Although the character didn’t stir the same sense of nostalgia as Logan or Deadpool for the audience, it certainly sparked questions about a possible solo movie for Gambit. However, until Disney makes an official announcement, we can only speculate.
