As a seasoned lifestyle expert with a keen eye for the intricacies of the entertainment industry, I must say that Wesley Snipes’ return as Blade is nothing short of extraordinary! With his iconic role defying the test of time and breaking not one but two Guinness World Records, it’s clear that this veteran actor continues to captivate audiences with his undeniable charm and impeccable performance.
For over two decades, Wesley Snipes’ Blade has held the title of longest-running live-action Marvel superhero, surpassing Hugh Jackman’s tenure as Wolverine. His brief appearance in the recent hit Deadpool marked his return to the role after 25 years since he debuted as the superhero in 1998’s Blade. This longevity outlasts Jackman’s prolonged portrayal of Wolverine, which began 24 years prior in the 2000 X-Men film.
In a remarkable feat, Blade has shattered not one, but two Guinness World Records! One of these records is for the longest duration between character appearances within the Marvel cinematic universe. As calculated by Guinness, the character’s last appearance was in Blade: Trinity (released in 2004), making his latest cameo in Deadpool & Wolverine a full 19 years later.
In doing so, the actor replaced Alfred Molina, who previously held the record for playing Doc Ock in Spider-Man 2, then reprising it 17 years later in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The records were announced by Guinness World Records on X, formerly Twitter, which Snipe reposted with his reaction. “Whuuuut?! Really? Do I get a certificate too? Lordy Lordy Lordy…Thank you @GWR, I’m your fan!” he wrote.
In his comeback, Blade was joined by a variety of unanticipated and thrilling appearances, such as Jennifer Garner, Channing Tatum, Chris Evans, and others. Snipe shared with Entertainment Weekly about his Marvel reunion and the astonishing invitation to be part of the hit Deadpool and Wolverine collaboration.
As a lifestyle expert, I must admit that I initially harbored doubts about the project’s success. I wasn’t convinced that Marvel and Disney were fully on board, especially given that they had Mahershala Ali lined up for the next iteration. However, upon further reflection, it seems my initial skepticism was misplaced.
The actor remembered receiving a call from Reynolds, proposing an idea. “They agreed and it was set,” he continued. The Academy Award-winning actor Mahershala Ali is tentatively involved with the possible revival of Blade, though progress is slow because of production complications.
Eric Pearson, linked to Marvel’s major forthcoming productions, Thunderbolts and The Fantastic Four, will write the script for the upcoming Blade reboot. Keep an eye out for further news!
