Will Cardi B’s divorce and new pregnancy keep her from dropping that second album? We know the answer

As a long-time fan of Cardi B, I must admit that her career has been nothing short of captivating. The way she’s navigated the rap game while managing her personal life is truly remarkable. Her unique style and raw authenticity have made her a beloved figure in the industry.

Examining Cardi B’s career could lead someone to conclude that she seems to have a complex feelings towards her role as a rapper and celebrity. This is largely due to the fact that, although she has achieved immense popularity, she has only released one album to date, “Invasion of Privacy,” in 2018.

Following the LP, she made appearances on various other artists’ tracks and put out a few singles this year, including “Like What (Freestyle)” and “Enough (Miami)”. These songs sparked great enthusiasm among her fans, who have been requesting her second album for years. However, with recent developments in her life, it remains to be seen if Cardi can deliver on their long-standing demand.

On August 1st, Thursday, the New York Post disclosed that Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset, her spouse of seven years. What’s more, she revealed on Instagram that she is pregnant, sharing this news alongside the divorce announcement. Cardi wrote, “Every ending signals a fresh start!” It remains uncertain if this new phase includes a new album. Nevertheless, TMZ claims that neither the divorce nor the pregnancy will impede the release of her long-awaited second album, rumored to be nearly complete at 75%.

However, there’s a bit of confusion regarding the release of Cardi’s project this year. Initially, she assured fans that it would be out before 2025, but later changed her mind following fan pressure. In truth, Cardi explained that the delay in releasing her second album is due to her dealing with anxiety.

“She shared with her social media audience in December 2022 that she has anxiety. This anxiety arises from the fact that following the release of her album, she must embark on a tour, which triggers her separation anxiety from her children. About her music, she admitted feeling dissatisfied, stating that she doesn’t like any of the songs she’s created recently. She feels as though there are many songs, but none of them seem good enough.”

Cardi expressed that she once cherished creating music, but now it feels more like a source of stress due to constant criticism. At times, the anticipation of such scrutiny can be overwhelming and unappealing.

Approximately two years following her live performance, Cardi B teased her fans by announcing a new album on the horizon, set for release in 2024. She tweeted, “6 years ago, my debut album shattered records! GAH LEE!! I’m now gearing up to launch the follow-up this year. It’s unlike anything you might expect and I can hardly wait!”

In the following month, a user named Ty, who uses X, ridiculed Cardi’s statements about an upcoming album, which led to her becoming upset. “It’s just irritating because this means a lot to me, and it’s nothing but constant complaining and crying with this whiny fanbase,” she wrote in a now-deleted tweet, as reported by Complex. However, Cardi countered that the issue was not only that fans were complaining when she was releasing music, but also during those times.

Regarding the rumors about Cardi B and Offset’s divorce, it appears she has already filed divorce papers and is seeking custody of their children, Wave, Kulture, and their unborn child. Notably, TMZ reports that Offset is the father of her third child as well, and she intends to receive child support for all three offspring.

It’s been reported that the divorce isn’t connected to allegations about the Migos rapper having an affair with a woman known as PrettyRedz, which he has refuted. Noteworthy, this recent legal paperwork represents Cardi B’s second attempt at divorcing her husband, following her initial filing in 2020; however, she ultimately chose to remain married then.

Additionally, concerning her second album, there’s speculation about whether Offset might be involved. This is due to his role in directing the video for her song “Like What (Freestyle)”, as well as his supportive stance towards her releasing new music.

Earlier this year, he motivated her to do it on social media and criticized her for being fearful. Translating his Instagram post to “Stop acting timid and release the album” could be what Offset meant. Perhaps she’ll heed that advice and provide fans with what they’ve longed for. Alternatively, she might use some time to adapt to single parenthood and caring for a newborn baby.
