Who Are Mama June Shannon’s Daughters? Here’s All We Know About Them

As an ardent fan of this extraordinary family, I find myself constantly captivated by their resilience and unwavering spirit. Mama June Shannon, a woman who has faced more challenges than most, continues to fight, not just for her own redemption, but for the love and connection with her children.

As a devoted follower, I’d like to share that Mama June Shannon, the well-known TV personality from TLC’s Toddlers & Tiaras, is focusing her efforts on mending her bonds with her daughters. She has four lovely girls: Jessica Chubbs Shannon, Lauryn Pumpkin Efrid, Alana Honey Boo Boo Thompson, and Anna Chickadee Cardwell. Unfortunately, we lost Anna on December 9 following a diagnosis of adrenal carcinoma in January. My thoughts are with Mama June and her family during this challenging time.

Alana and Shannon attained recognition through the television show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” (2012-2014). However, the series was cancelled following allegations about Shannon being involved with a known sexual offender.

In the year 2017, Shannon made an appearance on the reality TV show Mama June: From Not to Hot, later known as Mama June: Road to Redemption. This series aimed to help her rebuild her life following her 2019 drug-related arrest and subsequent loss of custody of Alana to her daughter Lauryn “Pumpkin” in April 2022.

In June 2022, Shannon commended Pumpkin for taking care of Alana during a difficult time. After completing rehab with Eugene Geno Doak in June 2021, she celebrated 16 months without drugs or alcohol. She wed Justin Stroud in March 2022 and again in February 2023, with all her daughters present at both ceremonies.

In March 2023, Anna’s diagnosis of advanced adrenal cancer added a profound depth to their family events. On Instagram, Alana opened up about her experiences dealing with the challenges of being famous. Meanwhile, Shannon spoke candidly on a show titled “Mama June: Family Crisis,” acknowledging that parenthood often includes making mistakes.

Anna Cardwell, 29

Anna, affectionately known as Chickadee, was the eldest child of Shannon, born on the 28th of August in 1994. Her biological father was previously Shannon’s boyfriend, David Dunn.

Anna had a difficult time with Shannon from around 2003 onwards, due to her decision to live with her grandmother. This was a result of abuse she suffered at the hands of Shannon’s boyfriend, Mark McDaniel, before 2003. However, they managed to patch things up for a short while before the start of the show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo”.

Anna has a pair of daughters – Kaitlyn (born in 2012) and Kylee (born in 2015), who were born to her ex-husband Michael Cardwell. In the year 2015, she filed a lawsuit against Shannon for non-payment related to show performances.

In January 2023, Anna, who worked at a car dealership, received the devastating news of Stage 4 adrenal cancer. Sadly, she passed away on December 10, 2023. Shannon and Alana honored her memory on Instagram.

Jessica Shannon, 27

Shannon’s second child, often called Chubbs, entered the world on October 12, 1996. This child was born to June and her former partner, Michael Anthony Ford, who had previously been convicted for sex offenses.

Jessica made appearances on her family’s reality series and one episode of Family Feud hosted by Steve Harvey. In the year 2015, she completed high school at Wilkinson County High School, and in May 2018, she graduated from college, marking the occasion with a graduation picture shared on Instagram.

In February 2020, Jessica and Anna embarked on a $80,000 transformation trip to Beverly Hills, where they underwent full-body makeovers that included liposuction and veneers. Since then, Jessica has been open about her weight loss journey on Instagram, describing the experience as life-altering and sharing how it helped her conquer years of self-doubt.

Lauryn Efird, 24

Lauryn, whom people affectionately call “Pumpkin”, is the third-born daughter of June and she entered the world on January 7, 2000. For many years, Lauryn thought Mark McDaniel, a convicted child molester, was her biological father, but it turned out later that Michael Anthony Ford was actually her true dad.

Lauryn has been featured in every reality series that the family produces, ranging from “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” to “Mama June: On the Journey to Recovery.”

In December 2017, Lauryn Efird and Joshua welcomed their daughter Ella Grace as their first child, and they got married the following year. Their son Bentley arrived in July 2021, followed by twins Sylus and Stella in May 2022. The baby shower for Ella brought Lauryn back together with her sister Shannon and her siblings after many years apart.

In June of 2022, Lauryn officially gained full guardianship over her younger sister Alana, who had been residing with her since 2019. Previously, Shannon was mandated to provide child support amounting to USD 800 per month to Lauryn until Alana reached the age of 18. Lauryn has found it difficult to balance her role as a sister and a motherly figure for Alana.

1) Lauryn has voiced a wish to mend her bond with her mother and contemplated the role of family’s reality TV in light of Shannon’s battles with addiction. In August 2024, Lauryn initiated divorce proceedings against Efird after six years of marriage, arranging joint custody for their four kids.

Alana  Shannon, 18

As a die-hard fan, let me share a tidbit about my beloved star, Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson. This charming little girl entered the world on August 28, 2005, under the loving gaze of her parents, June and Mike Thompson. Fate had a special plan for Alana, as she captured hearts across America when she burst onto the scene on Toddlers & Tiaras. Her journey didn’t stop there; she continued to mesmerize us on reality shows like Here Comes Honey Boo Boo and Dancing with the Stars: Juniors.

In the year 2019, Alana started living with her half-sibling, Lauryn, who holds legal custody. Alana has been open about her intentions to distinguish her public image from her true self and has shown a sense of accomplishment in facing and overcoming difficulties.

Right now, Alana is in a relationship with Dralin Carswell, facing criticism due to their significant age difference and multiracial union. On the 28th of February, 2023, Carswell was apprehended for driving under the influence and attempting to evade law enforcement officers, with Alana as his passenger in the vehicle.
