New ‘Venom’ Movie in the Works From ‘Final Destination Bloodlines’ Team

Venom is getting a new animated movie! Sony Pictures is working on it with directors Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project is still in its initial stages, and many specifics haven’t been finalized. According to someone at the studio, Tom Hardy – known for playing Eddie Brock/Venom in the recent movies – will participate in some capacity. It’s currently unknown whether he’ll reprise his role as the voice of Venom or contribute in a different behind-the-scenes position.

Although critics didn’t love the Venom movies, they were very successful financially, earning over $1.8 billion worldwide. Sony owns the rights to Venom because of its connection to the Spider-Man films and will now create a new animated Venom movie through Sony Pictures Animation.

As a huge animation fan, I’ve been blown away by Sony’s Spider-Verse movies – seriously, Into the Spider-Verse and Across the Spider-Verse are incredible. And the good news doesn’t stop there! We’re already looking forward to the third one, Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is currently slated to hit theaters in 2027. I’m already counting down the days!

After successfully reviving the Final Destination series with their recent film, which grossed over $317 million, directors Lipovsky and Stein are taking on an animated Venom movie that’s expected to be more intense than typical animated fare. The duo are also writing Gremlins 3, which Chris Columbus will direct and produce, with Steven Spielberg as an executive producer. Gremlins 3 is currently slated for release in 2027.

The animated Venom movie is still being made, and we’ll likely learn more details as production continues. Fans are eager to see Sony’s take on the iconic anti-hero in animated form.
