Rascal Does Not Dream’s University Arc Gets 2025 Release Window; DEETS

As a dedicated fan who has followed this series since its inception, I can’t help but feel a mix of excitement and nostalgia at the news of Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus. Having witnessed Sakuta Azusagawa’s journey from high school to university, it’s fascinating to think about what new adventures await him.

At a recent Aniplex x Kadokawa Anime Festival held in Japan, it was announced that an anime adaptation of the “Rascal Does Not Dream of University Arc” is underway. This upcoming anime series is titled “Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus,” and it’s scheduled to premiere in 2025. The name comes from the thirteenth volume of the original light novel series written by Hajime Kamoshida and illustrated by Kēji Mizoguchi.

The manga illustrated by Tsugumi Nanamiya started publication in the seinen manga magazine of ASCII Media Works in 2015. The first anime adaptation covering the initial five volumes was launched as “Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai” in 2018. Since then, three films titled “Rascal Does Not Dream of a Dreaming Girl,” “Rascal Does Not Dream of a Sister Venturing Out,” and “Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid” have also been produced.

Other than setting a premiere date for 2025, no specific release date has been announced yet. Additionally, a teaser for the “Rascal Does Not Dream of a Colorful Album” event scheduled for November 2024 was unveiled. This marks the fifth project in the franchise’s history and the first since the two films that came out in 2023.

In simpler terms, “Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus” will continue the storyline from “Rascal Does Not Dream of a Knapsack Kid”. This upcoming series takes inspiration from the University Arc in the original light novel. Interestingly, this light novel franchise is marking its 10th anniversary with over 3 million copies sold. Another notable work by the same creators is “The Pet Girl of Sakurasou”.

In the narrative I’m immersed in, I play the role of Sakuta Azusagawa, a typical high school student whose life undergoes a significant transformation upon encountering Mai Sakurajima. One fateful day, I stumble upon Mai, disguised as a bunny girl, wandering aimlessly within the library. To my astonishment, she’s the only one I can perceive in this attire. This peculiar phenomenon, which I later discover is related to adolescence or puberty syndrome, compels me to unravel the mystery surrounding her.

With Sakuta enrolling in university, we’re curious to discover which other young women he might meet. Given his candid and direct personality, will it lead to more troubles for him yet again? Keep an eye out for the latest developments in Rascal Does Not Dream of Santa Claus!
