Compared to the previous year’s 27 million, it represents a decline… a subtle, yet undeniable, shrinking of the financial soul.

The so-called “pundits,” those oracles of the market, had anticipated a revenue of 988 million and a per-share income of 0.16. Their predictions, alas, proved as reliable as a fortune teller reading tea leaves. They speak of “consensus,” but I see only a collective delusion, a shared ignorance masquerading as wisdom.

Mr. David Cerechinsky, the company’s chief executive, addressed the concerns regarding the legacy enterprise resource planning system—a digital monstrosity inherited from MRC Global. He spoke of “complexities” and “obstacles,” but I suspect the truth is far more sinister. It is not merely a system; it is a malevolent entity, a digital poltergeist haunting the company’s servers, wreaking havoc with invoices and disrupting the flow of commerce. He assures us they are “actively addressing” the issue, but I fear it is a battle against an invisible foe, a struggle that may last for decades.
