Aerosmith Announces Retirement From Touring Amid Steven Tyler’s Vocal Cord Injury: ‘It Has Been The Honor Of Our Lives’

As a lifelong Aerosmith fan who has been rocking out to their iconic tunes since I was a teenager, this news hits me like a thunderbolt from the blue. For five decades, these legends have soundtracked my life, fueling my dreams and igniting my spirit with their unmatched energy and raw talent.

Approximately three months following the postponement of the rest of their Peace Out tour, Aerosmith has declared their decision to stop touring permanently due to Steven Tyler’s persistent vocal cord injury. On August 2nd, the iconic rock band expressed this news through their social media platforms in a lengthy announcement.

1970 marked the ignition of Aerosmith’s creative spark. Thanks to our Blue Army, that initial flame has grown and continued burning for more than five decades. Many of you have been with us since the start, and every one of you is a crucial part of us making rock ‘n’ roll legend. It’s an immense privilege for us to have our music become intertwined with your lives.

The update continued by explaining that, despite Tyler spending countless hours since September 2023 trying to restore his voice to its previous state following an injury, he has found it challenging even with top-notch medical care. Consequently, the band has had to make a tough but essential decision: stepping away from touring stages. Aerosmith expressed their gratitude towards their team and ended the statement on a hopeful note, encouraging fans to keep dreaming because they’ve already made their dreams a reality.

All tickets purchased will be refunded, the band noted.

Back in February, I, an over-the-moon fan, was thrilled to hear Mia, Tyler’s cherished daughter, chat with People about her pops’ health. She playfully shared a piece of advice from his doctors – that they can’t seem to get him to stop chattering, which is crucial for his recovery from an injury. Despite this, she assured the publication that my idol, Tyler, was in tip-top shape and on the road to a swift recovery.

As a seasoned lifestyle aficionado, let me share some music trivia with you: I was part of the founding trio that established Aerosmith back in 1970, alongside my fellow musicians Joe Perry on guitar and Tom Hamilton on bass. Fast forward to 2001, we were honored by being inducted into the esteemed Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. If you’re a fan like me, you’ll recognize some of our biggest hits such as “Sweet Emotion,” “Walk This Way,” “Back in the Saddle,” and “Mama Kin.” Enjoy the rhythm!
