Jax Taylor Reveals He’s ‘Working on Getting Better’ For His Son Amid Admitting Himself to a Mental Health Facility

As someone who has followed Jax Taylor‘s journey on Vanderpump Rules for years, I can’t help but admire his courage and determination to prioritize his mental health. His decision to check into an in-patient treatment facility is not just a step towards getting better, but a testament to his love for his son Cruz and his commitment to being the best version of himself.

Jax Taylor recently spoke openly about his choice to enter a residential therapy center for the purpose of enhancing his emotional wellbeing.

On July 31st, 2018, a former cast member of Vanderpump Rules shared a touching Instagram post. In the image, he’s pictured with his 3-year-old son Cruz, whom he co-parents with Brittany Cartwright. Such moments serve as confirmation that seeking assistance was indeed the proper choice.

In a heartfelt message, he penned down, “Striving to improve for you, my dear one, as I hold you close in my heart.” He affectionately identified his son’s Instagram handle in the caption.

In the comments section, people like fans and friends expressed their backing for the 45-year-old, remarking that he should have received more kindness. Brittany Cartwright’s mother penned some affectionate words to him, Jerry O’Connell gave a positive nod with the comment “Be true to yourself, Jax! I love you, buddy!”, and Kim Zolciak-Biermann simply expressed, “Sending you tons of love.”

A representative from The Valley communicated to PEOPLE that Taylor has chosen to undergo in-hospital care during a difficult period for him and his loved ones. This individual highlighted that Jax has openly discussed his battles with anxiety and depression with his followers, most notably through his podcast this year. The family kindly asks for privacy and understanding as they allow Jax time to speak candidly about the matter in the future.

Despite announcing in February that they were separating after four years of marriage, Taylor and his wife Kim are still together. On their podcast When Reality Hits, Taylor, aged 35, discussed having a tough year and the decision to rent a new home for some personal space, which he feels positively impacts his mental health.

At that time, Cartwright noted that they were uncertain about their future.

Regardless of living apart, they share parental responsibilities for their little boy smoothly, with very little disagreements. Back in April, Cartwright shared with PEOPLE that she and her former partner maintain a friendly relationship, likening their dynamic to staying at the same hotel but in separate rooms.

In the final episode of Season 1, The Valley, Cartwright and Taylor discussed their split. Cartwright viewed their time apart as extraordinary, whereas Taylor found things amicable between them.

During an open and honest instant, Taylor pondered over the nine years they’ve shared, expressing how it’s been an extraordinary voyage without any remorse. He highlighted his deep affection for Brittany and their lives, acknowledging that only the future can reveal what lies ahead.
