Chrissy Teigen Confirms Son Miles Has Type 1 Diabetes; Thanks Fans For Messages Of Encouragement And Support

As a devoted admirer of Chrissy Teigen and her family, I must say that this latest revelation about their journey with Miles’ Type 1 diabetes has only deepened my respect for them. The transparency, vulnerability, and strength they have shown in sharing this part of their life experience is truly inspiring.

As a devoted follower, I’ve been curious lately: Since Chrissy Teigen and John Legend shared that picture of their kids cheering on Simone Biles at the 2024 Paris Olympics on July 28, fans like me have been wondering if their 6-year-old son Miles might have Type 1 diabetes. Some observant social media users noticed a glucose monitor on Miles’ arm while he held up a sign for Biles in his yellow short-sleeved shirt, sparking discussions about the young lad’s health status.

On July 31st, specifically on a Wednesday, the author of the Cravings cookbook, who is 38 years old, verified the news through a detailed post on Instagram.

“Many of you spotted an unusual aspect in the picture I shared a few days back – it was me, Luna, and Miles rejoicing with Simone and Team USA,” Teigen started off.

“Miles had his arm raised, prompting countless individuals to share heartwarmingly beautiful and awe-inspiring messages,” she continued, expressing gratitude for noticing her son’s Type 1 diabetes device. “The compassion shown by this community never ceases to astonish me,” the model and mother of four expressed, emphasizing her appreciation.

Teigen, in response to her supporters, admitted that things could have been even more dire, while acknowledging the luxury of having a specialist’s assistance in the situation. She further explained that Miles’ lifelong condition was in a “honeymoon phase,” meaning his symptoms would be less severe at this time. In the same message, Teigen revealed that Miles was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes after being hospitalized due to a serious shigella infection, an intestinal illness often caused by contaminated food or water. Teigen added that many young children are diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in similar ways, when they’re admitted to the hospital for other reasons.

She noted that Miles was administered his first shot of insulin on Tuesday night.

I just wanted to express my heartfelt gratitude for your compassion. It means the world to us that Miles isn’t the only one going through this, knowing there are others who understand his journey provides him with immense comfort. My husband and I have been finding solace in the book “Year One with Type One,” leaning on it for support. Here’s a peek at our guide – it’s been an incredible help! Love you guys!!! 💙

Apart from Miles and Luna, Teigen and Legend are also parents to their son Wren Alexander, who is 13 months old, and their daughter Esti Maxine, who is 18 months old.
