Is Maya Rudolph Set To Play Kamala Harris On SNL Amid Ongoing Presidential Election Race? Find Out Here

As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for comedy and a deep appreciation for the arts, I am thrilled to share my thoughts on Maya Rudolph’s return as Vice President Kamala Harris on Saturday Night Live (SNL). Having followed her career since her early days at SNL, it is truly inspiring to see her reprise this role in these politically charged times.

Maya Rudolph looks forward to wearing Kamala Harris’s character suit during the upcoming season of Saturday Night Live. In light of the ongoing presidential race, Rudolph will rejoin the show with her comedic interpretation of Vice President Harris for an iconic NBC program sketch. The news that SNL alum will play this role surfaced as production on her Apple TV series is temporarily halted.

Based on reports from Deadline, it appears that the actress’s show was initially set to begin filming in August 2024. However, unexpected circumstances have caused a delay in the production process.

Enthusiasts of Saturday Night Live can hardly wait for the comeback of Maya Rudolph portraying Kamala Harris, a role that debuted back in December 2019 when Eddie Murphy served as the show’s host.

In the 2019 episode, the portrayal by the actress from “The Loot” was warmly appreciated and even earned the comedian a nomination for the Emmy Awards. Notably, she subsequently won in the Outstanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series category. Since then, Rudolph has reprised the role on several occasions within the comedy series.

A NBC show brought back Kamala Harris’ character, played by actress Rudolph, in March 2021, and she received another Emmy Award in the same category as the previous year. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight in 2020, the actress from Idiocracy shared her enthusiasm about portraying a political figure on national television. During the conversation, Rudolph mentioned, “Being part of any presidential election is truly an honor, and this one is particularly exciting. So it’s truly an honor for me.”

As an over-the-moon fan, let me share my own words about the unforgettable moment when I met Harris. The actress is simply amazing! She’s got this incredible energy that leaves you feeling uplifted and honored just to be in her presence. I can’t help but feel privileged to be connected with someone so positive. Plus, I really want to make her proud – to deliver my best work without any added pressure!

The actress expressed that the Vice President exudes such vibrant energy and happiness, it’s as if she’s “dancing even when she’s not.” Additionally, the comedian disclosed that Harris is an incredibly kind and radiant individual, overflowing with optimism.

Rudolph expressed his hope that she would stick around for a while longer, while it’s been announced that the 50th season of Saturday Night Live will debut on NBC on September 28.
