As a lifestyle expert with a keen eye for quality storytelling and a deep appreciation for the evolution of acting careers, I am genuinely intrigued by the upcoming psychological thriller, Before. The cast is nothing short of stellar, with veterans like Billy Crystal, Judith Light, Rosie Perez, and Maria Dizzia gracing our screens once again.
Get ready to be haunted by Apple TV+’s upcoming psychological thriller Before!
Billy Crystal takes on the role of child psychologist Eli, who unexpectedly forms a deep bond with one of his patients, Noah (Jacobi Jupe). Following the loss of his wife Lynn (Judith Light), Eli’s enigmatic connection to Noah becomes even more pronounced as he grapples with grief.
In simpler terms, the show’s summary tells us that the main character, Eli (whose late wife was named Lynn), meets a distressed young lad called Noah. It appears that there is a mysterious and unsettling link between Noah and Eli’s past history.

As a devoted follower, I’ve noticed some intriguing images from Apple TV+ that hint at tension within the storyline. In one scene, Crystal’s character, Eli, seems troubled during an interaction with Rosie Perez (whose character’s name is still under wraps), in a hospital setting. Another image shows Light’s character standing behind Eli, his expression grave and arms crossed across his chest – a clear sign of strain in their relationship.
One of the pictures also shared a glimpse of Noah and Eli’s conversation on a kids’ counseling table and wrapped his arms around the young boy in another.
Besides Crystal, Light, Perez, and Jupe, the cast of Before also features Maria Dizzia and Ava Lalezarzadeh. Notably, Crystal is not only a cast member but also an executive producer, working alongside Eric Roth in the production team led by Adam Bernstein and Jet Wilkinson for this series.
In addition to portraying a troubled child psychologist in the film “Before,” the actor from “When Harry Met Sally” has recently lent his voice to the character of Mike in the Disney+ animated series “Monsters at Work.” This show also features Mindy Kaling, Ben Feldman, and Henry Winkler.
As Crystal transitioned from voicing an animated character to portraying the complex and dark Eli, she ushered in a new era for psychological thrillers following her performance as Blanche Knopf, a book publisher, in the Max original drama Julia. Recently, she has been seen in HBO’s comedy series Fantasmas and Fox’s animated sitcom Grimsburg.
As a devoted follower, I’m excited to share that the initial installments of “Before” will debut on October 25th, exclusively on Apple TV+. Each subsequent episode will be released weekly every Friday, continuing until December 20th. Can’t wait to join you all on this journey!
