New STAR TREK Comic Features Seven of Nine’s Enterprise-G

In 2026, Star Trek will celebrate its 60th anniversary, and IDW Comics is marking the occasion with several new releases. Fans who were hoping for a continuation of the story hinted at in the final season of Picard will be excited about a new ongoing series simply titled Star Trek. This series follows the adventures of Captain Seven of Nine aboard the EnterpriseG. The creative team includes writer Christopher Cantwell (known for his work on Iron Man) and artist Dennis Menheere (Hello Darkness*). IDW has released an official description and a preview of Menheere’s cover art.

STAR TREK

Captain Seven of Nine leads a secret mission that takes the *EnterpriseG further than any starship has gone before, beyond the known galaxy. They enter a strange area of space where time is broken, sanity is threatened, and a mysterious force controls fear. This journey will challenge everything the Federation believes in, forcing them to question if their spirit of exploration will save them… or ultimately prove to be a disastrous error.

Terry Matalas originally planned a spin-off series called Star Trek: Legacy featuring Captain Seven of Nine and the EnterpriseG, building off of Star Trek: Picard. Although fans enthusiastically campaigned for the show online, Paramount+ decided not to move forward with it. Now, it appears everyone involved has shifted focus, and this comic book might be the closest we ever get to seeing an EnterpriseG series.

Here’s what writer Christopher Cantwell said about his upcoming Star Trek series:

Celebrating 60 years of Star Trek means recognizing a story that’s always been about the future – a hopeful vision set against the vastness of space. I first encountered Star Trek when I was ten, and it changed my life. The show’s worlds, characters, and stories explored the challenges of building communities, finding common ground, and upholding values like peace and understanding, even when faced with conflicting viewpoints. That’s the true power of Star Trek – its ability to explore complex ideas in a captivating and imaginative way.

We’re building a fresh Star Trek story, aiming for something truly new. We want to explore a hopeful but often daunting future with a team of characters united as they venture into completely uncharted territory. Star Trek has given us a rich history over the past six decades, and while we’ll honor what’s best about it, this new series will largely move beyond established lore.

STAR TREK: ZERO POINT

Will the crew of the new Star Trek series be similar to what was planned for Legacy? Not entirely. Raffi Musiker, Captain Seven’s first officer from Picard, won’t be aboard the EnterpriseG. Instead, she’ll be the main character in a new series called Star Trek: Zero Point*, written by Charlie Jane Anders. The show will feature Raffi as a starship captain in her own right. Here’s what we know about the series so far – though a release date hasn’t been announced yet:

The Enterprise has disappeared beyond the galaxy, working to stop future catastrophes. It’s led by a sophisticated artificial intelligence that appears as a trusted friend, but this AI might not fully grasp the importance of hope.

Captain Seven and her former partner, Raffi, weren’t stationed on the Enterprise-G together for a significant amount of time. However, we’re still excited to see what writer Charlie Jane Anders has planned for Captain Musiker. Anders, a lifelong Star Trek fan, shares that some of her earliest memories involve pretending to be in Starfleet and waiting for transport. She’s incorporating all her favorite elements of Star Trek into this comic, including challenging problems, moral questions, explorations of identity, and the importance of found family.

STAR TREK: CELEBRATIONS

This year, fans can look forward to two special one-time issues celebrating all things Star Trek. First, Star Trek: Celebrations 2026 will be released in May, featuring stories centered around the series’ LGBTQIA+ characters. Created by a fantastic team of LGBTQIA+ writers and artists, this issue promises tales of love and success, staying true to Gene Roddenberry’s vision of celebrating diversity in all its forms.

STAR TREK: 60TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL

To mark Star Trek’s 60th anniversary in September, IDW will release a special 50-page comic book featuring brand-new stories from writers and artists like Dana Gould, Ryan North, David Walker, and Megan Camerena.
