As a seasoned music enthusiast with decades of listening under my belt, I must say August is shaping up to be a veritable feast for our auditory senses! The dearth of high-exposure releases doesn’t mean a lack of quality – quite the contrary. This month might just be the pièce de résistance for true music aficionados like myself.
In contrast to the bustling holiday shopping period, August tends to have fewer blockbuster album releases as summer comes to an end, but this doesn’t imply that the albums will lack quality. On the contrary, they could still prove to be excellent choices for music enthusiasts.
Indeed, August appears to hold a treasure trove for music enthusiasts. A renowned rock band is dropping an unexpected album, while numerous established musicians launch their albums weekly. Additionally, there’s a wildcard like Sabrina Carpenter’s record, which could potentially gain popularity due to Taylor Swift’s influence.
Every week, I can’t wait to find at least two new gems to add to my music collection. It seems like there’s never a lean week, with most weeks boasting a double-digit count of releases. Here’s a sneak peek at what’s dropping in August, so you too can plan your purchases!
Full album release schedule for August
August 2
1. Khalid – Heartfelt
As a longtime fan of alternative rock music, I was thrilled to hear the news that The Smashing Pumpkins are releasing a new album while they’re touring with Green Day. I have fond memories of their earlier work, particularly “Siamese Dream,” which I consider a classic in the genre. I can’t help but feel hopeful that this new record will bring more guitar-driven sounds and fewer synths, as I believe Billy Corgan is at his best when he’s channeling those raw, energetic tones. I eagerly await the release of this upcoming album and hope it takes me back to the excitement and passion of their earlier days.
As a music enthusiast with over two decades of experience under my belt, I have to admit that the name Orville Peck has been popping up everywhere lately, and it feels like this artist is about to explode onto the scene. Given my extensive background in the industry, I’ve seen countless artists rise and fall, but something tells me that Orville Peck has what it takes to make a lasting impact. The buzz surrounding him is palpable, and I can’t help but feel excited about his potential success.
August 9
As a music enthusiast with a background in various genres, I have had the pleasure of discovering and appreciating diverse artists across the globe. Among my recent favorites are Big Sean’s “Better Me Than You,” which embodies self-empowerment and personal growth; F****d Up’s “Another Day,” a raw expression of resilience and perseverance that resonates deeply with my own experiences; J Balvin’s “Rayo,” an energetic and catchy song that transports me to vibrant Latin American culture; King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard’s “Flight b741,” a psychedelic journey that takes me on a sonic adventure; Louis Cole’s “Nothing,” an introspective piece that mirrors my own contemplative moments; Milton Nascimento & Esperanza Spalding’s collaborative effort, “Milton + Esperanza,” a mesmerizing fusion of Brazilian and jazz influences; Niki’s “Buzz,” a captivating electronic track that keeps me moving; Osees’ “SORCS 80,” a hard-hitting punk rock anthem that stirs my rebellious spirit; Oso Oso’s “Life Till Bones,” a poignant emo ballad that tugs at the heartstrings of anyone who has experienced loss; and Ryuichi Sakamoto’s “Opus,” an elegant composition that showcases his mastery in ambient music. Each artist brings something unique to my musical journey, and I eagerly anticipate their future releases.
As a longtime fan of King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard, I must admit that I am always eagerly awaiting their next release. Having followed the band since their formation in 2010, it’s truly astounding to see how prolific they have been in such a short amount of time. What sets them apart from many other bands is their ability to consistently evolve and reinvent their sound without ever growing stale or repetitive.
August 16
Beabadoobee – “Tomorrow’s Motion”
As a music enthusiast who has been following the industry for quite some time now, I must say that this upcoming week in August promises to be one of the most diverse and exciting release weeks I’ve seen in a while. With several records hitting the shelves, you might want to start saving up a bit if you’re planning on getting your hands on all of them.
August 23
As a music enthusiast,
As a longtime music enthusiast and record collector, I must say that this week has been particularly intriguing for me. It seems like the executives at various record companies have decided to release a barrage of one-word titled records, with eight such albums hitting the shelves this week alone, not to mention several more with one-word titles in all capital letters. While these releases certainly catch the eye, I believe that it’s the band with an exceptional name – Illuminati Hotties – that has truly stolen the show for me.
August 30
Enumclaw – A New Lease on Life
As a long-time fan of both Nick Cave and RZA, I can hardly contain my excitement as they are both releasing albums within the same week! This is like a dream come true for me. Their music has been a constant source of inspiration and solace throughout my life, helping me through good times and bad. To have two new albums from these two incredible artists at the same time is just mind-blowing. I can’t wait to dive in and experience their latest creations!
