As a lifelong DC fan with a heart full of nostalgia for the Man of Steel, I can hardly contain my excitement as James Gunn wraps up the filming of Superman (2025)! Having followed his exceptional work on Guardians of the Galaxy and The Suicide Squad, I have no doubt that this reboot will set a new standard for superhero movies.

On July 30th, James Gunn shared on social media that he had wrapped up filming of his eagerly awaited Superman movie. Throughout the production process, he expressed gratitude to the cast and team who made the challenging work possible. The Man of Steel is scheduled for a 2025 premiere.

James Gunn announces the shoot wrap-up of Superman

The new version of Superman from DC Comics will be released in theaters on July 11, 2025. James Gunn, known for directing three Guardians of the Galaxy movies and The Suicide Squad (2021), as well as the Pacemaker series within the DC Universe, is responsible for kickstarting the DC reboot with Superman (2025).

Gunn shared on social media that filming of his superhero movie had concluded, accompanied by a set photo. He expressed, “That’s a wrap! My heartfelt gratitude goes out to our talented cast and crew whose dedication, imagination, and perseverance have breathed life into this endeavor. Initially, I aimed to create a film about a virtuous man in an imperfect world. However, the unwavering goodness, kindness, and love that I’ve encountered daily on set has rejuvenated me and propelled me forward even when I felt drained.”

James Gunn was unable to convey enough appreciation to all those who contributed to the film. He went on to say, “It has been a privilege. The end goal was Superman, but the path was filled with hard work, laughter, feelings, thoughts, creativity, and enchantment that we created together on set – and for that, I will always be thankful.”

DC Universe is set for a reboot with the upcoming Superman movie

In a new and refreshing twist, Gunn & Safran are steering the revamped DC Universe with the movie titled Superman: Legacy. David Corenswet steps into the role of Superman, while Rachel Brosnahan, who won an Emmy for her comedy performance in The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, takes on the character of Lois Lane.

In this adaptation, Nicholas Hoult takes on the role of Lex Luthor, a part he previously played in X-Men: Dark Phoenix. Joining him is Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, with others also in the cast.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that in an upcoming movie, I’ll be making a special appearance as a TV reporter, following in the footsteps of my legendary father, Christopher Reeve, who brought Superman to life on the big screen. With his passing, it’s a heartfelt connection that binds the past Superman films and this 2025 version, stirring up a wave of nostalgia for many fans like myself.
