The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon Gets Season 3 Renewal Ahead of Upcoming Season 2

As a die-hard fan of The Walking Dead universe, I couldn’t contain my excitement when AMC announced the renewal of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon—The Book of Carol for a third season, just two short months before the premiere of its second season. The prospect of Norman Reedus and Melissa McBride reprising their iconic roles as Daryl and Carol, respectively, had me on cloud nine!

As a lifestyle expert, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news with you about one of my favorite TV shows, The Walking Dead. AMC recently made an announcement that has left fans, like myself, ecstatic – the renewal of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon—The Book of Carol for a third season! This came as a surprise, just two months before the second season’s premiere.

As a long-time fan of this hit series, I’m thrilled to my bones with the latest developments! Deadline broke some exciting news recently: production for the third season will kick off next month, and get this – the filming location is moving from France to Madrid, Spain! I can only imagine the beautiful landscapes and rich cultural experiences that await us.

McBride is excited for Daryl Dixon’s move to Spain in Season 3

After the finale of The Walking Dead’s first season, Daryl set off on a journey, discovering new meaning in Maine. However, he encountered difficulties near the coast and boarded a ship sailing for France. Upon arrival, he linked up with a Parisian survivor group. The season concluded with Daryl opting to remain in France instead of returning home. Yet, Carol continued her pursuit and was hot on his heels, as hinted in the second season preview where they faced both human and zombie threats, culminating in a sneak peek of their eventual reunion.

McBride expressed great enthusiasm during his latest interview, following the confirmation of the third season’s renewal. He shared, “I’m truly enjoying the fresh experiences for Daryl and Carol as they are so far from everything they’ve ever known… There’s still much to explore in France for seasons 2 and an awe-inspiring finale. Now, Spain! I can already tell that David Zabel’s storytelling will brilliantly capture the beauty and uniqueness of Spain. We begin shooting there soon. I’m really looking forward to it!”

Revealing the other Walking Dead spinoffs

Prior to the last episode of The Walking Dead airing in November 2022, filming began on three separate spinoffs. These new projects broadened the franchise and allowed actors to delve into fresh storylines based on the initial series. In June 2023, The Walking Dead: Dead City made its debut. Here, Maggie (Lauren Cohan) crossed paths with Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) while frantically looking for her kidnapped son in the bustling streets of New York City.

In September 2023, I eagerly anticipated the premiere of Daryl Dixon’s new project, “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live,” which brought back Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Dania Gurira). The series aired in February 2024. Currently, Dead City has been renewed for a second season, but the fate of “The Ones Who Live” remains uncertain.

Upcoming Season 2 of Daryl Dixon is set to premiere on September 29

Three television shows based on the Walking Dead universe preceded this series. Fear The Walking Dead started in 2015 and concluded in its eighth season in October 2023. During its fourth season, we watched Kim Dickens, Colman Domingo, and Lennie James. In 2022, The Walking Dead: The World Beyond debuted but was canceled after two seasons due to low viewership and fan dissatisfaction. Tales of the Walking Dead, an anthology series, emerged in 2022 with six episodes, yet no new installments have been announced as of now.

Starting September 29, 2024, the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon: The Book of Carol will be released on both AMC and AMC+.
