Avowed’s PS5 Port Is Out Now And Met With Positive User Reviews

As a fan, it was a little disappointing to see how Avowed did when it launched last year. Obsidian released three games, and it was one of the two that didn’t quite hit the sales numbers they were hoping for. I wouldn’t call it a failure exactly, but it definitely didn’t make as big a splash as both Obsidian and Xbox probably expected.

Avowed, previously only available on Xbox, was released on PS5 yesterday, coinciding with its one-year anniversary. While it’s too soon to know if the PS5 release will boost sales, early reviews from players on the platform are very positive, suggesting they’re enjoying the game.

Avowed Launches To Positive User Reviews On PS5, But Will It Be Enough?

Currently, Avowed has a very high rating of 4.73 out of 5 on PlayStation 5, based on feedback from 429 players. While we don’t know exactly how many people are playing, the existing ratings suggest that players are having a good experience with the game.

Players joining now might be having a smoother experience than those who started at launch. With the release of the PlayStation 5 version, Avowed received a major update, including several new features like three additional playable races – before, players were limited to human or elf characters.

The update didn’t cause a big jump in the number of players on PC. While it did bring a small increase in concurrent players on Steam, the change wasn’t significant, though some people were curious enough to try out the new additions.

Obsidian will definitely welcome any increase in sales. Now is a great time to start playing the series, especially considering Obsidian is planning a sequel – something that won’t be happening with The Outer Worlds 2, which came out later that year as Avowed did.

Obsidian’s recent games, Avowed and The Outer Worlds 2, unfortunately came out during a difficult period for the Xbox brand. Avowed was specifically limited to Xbox Series X/S consoles upon release, and now, all Microsoft products – including those made by Obsidian – are facing boycotts due to Microsoft’s technological partnerships with Israel. This means any game developed by Obsidian is now included in the boycott list.
