As a die-hard fan of Kimetsu no Yaiba, also known as Demon Slayer, I can’t help but be utterly captivated by the Infinity Castle Arc. This thrilling and emotional storyline is the first half of the Final Battle Arc, taking us closer to the much-anticipated conclusion of this phenomenal manga. With over 150 million copies in circulation worldwide, Demon Slayer has left an indelible mark on the hearts of readers everywhere.
The Infinity Castle Storyline is the initial part of the Final Battle Saga and the eleventh installment in Kimetesu No Yaiba. During this phase, every member of the Demon Slayer Corps is transported to the Infinity Castle for the purpose of confronting Muzan Kibutsuji. The Japanese comic series was authored and sketched by Koyoharu Gotouge, and it commenced publication in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump manga periodical.
Approximately 150 million copies of this manga have been sold, making it one of the most beloved mangas ever. Anime adaptations of cherished comic panels from the manga are highly anticipated by fans, who will soon be treated to a three-part movie series as the finale. 1. Shinobu Kocho vs Doma
The Insect Hashira harbors a deep desire for vengeance against Doma, the Upper-Rank Two Demon. This desire stems from an unfortunate event that occurred prior to the current narrative. You see, years ago, Doma brutally took the life of Kanae Kocho – the older sister of Shinobu Kocho and the Flower Hashira. Regrettably, despite the Insect Hashira’s best efforts, her techniques were no match for Doma’s formidable strength. And so, another tragic loss was added to the Kocho family at the hands of this demon.
2. Zenitsu Agatsuma vs Kaigaku
In the manga, Kaigaku has taken over as the Upper-Rank Six Demon from Daki and Gyutaro. Previously, Kaigaku was a former Demon Slayer and senior disciple to Zenitsu under the Thunder Hashira, Jigoro Kuwajima. During their confrontation, Zenitsu put up a valiant effort but was ultimately cornered and severely injured. However, he did not go down without a fight, managing to inflict some damage on Kaigaku. In simpler terms, Kaigaku is now the new Upper-Rank Six Demon, having replaced Daki and Gyutaro in this role. Before becoming a demon, Kaigaku was a senior disciple of Zenitsu under Jigoro Kuwajima. Despite being overpowered during their battle, Zenitsu was able to inflict some harm on Kaigaku.
3. Tanjiro Kamado and Giyu Tomioka vs Akaza
Tanjiro comes face to face with Akaza again, this time he has Giyu to his side. Tanjiro wants to avenge Rengoku and fiercely engages Akaza. Both the Demon Slayers push to their limits which proves too much for Akaza. In his final moments, after he is beheaded by Tanjior, Akaza manages to come to peace with everything that has happened so far. He reflects upon his days as a human before turning into a Demon.
4. Kanao Tsuyuri and Inosuke Hashibira vs Doma
Though not biologically related, Kanao Tsuyuri is driven to confront Doma after witnessing the demon’s involvement in her sisters’ deaths. With Doma about to claim another life, Inosuke, a legendary figure, intervenes. They successfully decapitate Doma, who had also taken the life of Inosuke’s mother. Eventually, Kanao finds justice for her beloved sisters.
5. Mitsuri Kanroji and Obanai Iguro vs Nakime
Iguro’s affection for Miss Kanroji is well-known to us all. During their exploration of the Infinity Castle, they run into Nakime. She skillfully evades the Hashiras until Yushiro reappears and rescues them. With Yushiro at the helm, he deceives Muzan, who engages in combat with Giyu and Tanjiro. Unfortunately, Nakime is killed by Muzan to reclaim control of the Infinity Castle. In the meantime, Giyu and Tanjiro unite with others for battle.
6. Muichiro Tokito, Genya Shinazugawa, Sanemi Shinzaugawa, and Gyomei Himejima vs Kokushibo
Kokushibo ranks second in strength to Muzan for a reason, as demonstrated during their fierce encounter with the Upper-Rank One Demon. In this battle, Muichiro loses a hand and Genya gets seriously injured. Despite their injuries, they successfully activate their Demon Slayer Marks and coordinate their attacks against Kokushibo. Ultimately, they manage to behead him, in his last moments recalling his brother Yoriichi. This thrilling fight from the arc leaves us eagerly anticipating its anime adaptation.
To summarize, the Infinity Castle Arc becomes crucial as the series reaches its climax. Suffering significant casualties, the remaining Demon Slayers shift their attention to defeating the Demon King.
