Mckenna Grace will play Daphne in the upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo origin series on Netflix. This is the first main cast member announced for the eight-episode show, which is being produced by Berlanti Productions and Warner Bros. Television.
The casting gives fans their first real look at how this new take on Scooby-Doo is coming together.

Grace Plays Daphne In Origin Story
Grace will star as Daphne in the new series, which shows how the Mystery Inc. gang originally came together.
I’m so excited about this new show! It’s all about Shaggy and Daphne’s last summer at camp, and things get really interesting. They end up investigating this weird case – a little Great Dane puppy goes missing, and it looks like he might have seen something… something spooky! Turns out, that puppy is none other than Scooby-Doo, and he’s at the center of a possible supernatural murder! It’s going to be a wild ride, I can feel it.
The group joins forces with Velma, who’s practical and relies on science, and a new student named Freddy. Together, they look into a puzzling mystery that quickly turns into a frightening experience, challenging the bonds of their friendship.
Creative Team Behind Scooby-Doo On Netflix
This series is a production of Midnight Radio, Berlanti Productions, and Warner Bros. Television. It was written by Josh Appelbaum and Scott Rosenberg, who also worked on Cowboy Bebop, and they are the showrunners.
André Nemec and Jeff Pinkner of Midnight Radio, along with Appelbaum and Rosenberg, serve as executive producers. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, and Leigh London Redman executive produce through Berlanti Productions, which has a deal with Warner Bros. Television. Warner Bros. Television is the studio behind the project.
Netflix quickly decided to move forward with the show as a full series after a competitive bidding process last spring.
