This happened shortly after a report surfaced alleging that LaBeouf spent several days going between bars in New Orleans for Mardi Gras, leading up to Fat Tuesday.

What Police Say Happened
On Tuesday, February 17th, around 12:45 a.m., New Orleans police responded to a Royal Street business following a report of an assault.
Police say LaBeouf was causing a disturbance and becoming increasingly aggressive.
According to Reuters, Shia LaBeouf reportedly hit an employee multiple times with his fists when the employee tried to ask him to leave. Police state that LaBeouf initially left the area, but then came back and became more confrontational.
Witnesses tried to hold him back, letting go for a moment hoping he’d go away. According to police, LaBeouf then struck the same employee again and punched another man, causing a nose injury.
Passersby held LaBeouf until police arrived. He was taken to the hospital for injuries, then arrested once he was treated. He’s now facing two charges of simple battery.

Guardian Names The Location
According to a report in The Guardian, the incident took place at Royal Street Inn and Bar in New Orleans’ Faubourg Marigny neighborhood, close to the French Quarter. The Guardian says the bar manager attempted to remove Shia LaBeouf, and the alleged punches occurred during and after that attempt.
According to The Guardian, LaBeouf was released from custody and is scheduled to return to court on March 19th.
