Horror fans are in for a treat this week, with exciting new movies hitting theaters and plenty of scary options becoming available to stream. Theaters will feature both classic slasher films and thrilling zombie stories, while streaming services like Screambox offer everything from Korean horror to nostalgic 80s frights. Plus, a popular series is growing with the release of the newest 28 Years Later film. No matter how you like to watch, there’s something terrifying for everyone starting now.
‘Redux Redux’ (2026)

I’m really excited about this new sci-fi thriller coming out February 20th. It’s a fresh take on the revenge story, and the premise is wild. It centers around a mother, Irene Kelly – played by Michaela McManus – who loses her daughter and then discovers she can jump between parallel universes. She starts using this ability to relentlessly hunt down and kill her daughter’s murderer, played by Jeremy Holm, in each different reality. But it quickly becomes clear that this quest for revenge is consuming her, and she gets dangerously caught up in the act of killing itself. The film is directed by the McManus brothers, and Jim Cummings is also in it as a grief counselor who gets pulled into Irene’s increasingly chaotic and desperate journey.
‘Psycho Killer’ (2026)

Written by Andrew Kevin Walker, the screenwriter behind Seven, this gripping crime thriller arrives in theaters on February 20th. Georgina Campbell plays Jane Archer, a determined police officer hunting a brutal serial killer nicknamed the Satanic Slasher. When the killer murders her husband, a state trooper, Archer’s quest for justice becomes deeply personal and incredibly risky. Malcolm McDowell appears as the enigmatic Mr. Pendleton, adding to the film’s unsettling atmosphere. Expect a dark and gritty style that echoes the great thrillers of the 1990s.
‘This Is Not a Test’ (2026)

Opening in theaters on February 20th, this thrilling zombie apocalypse movie is based on a novel by Courtney Summers. It follows Sloane, played by Olivia Holt, who finds herself trapped in her high school with five classmates when a deadly outbreak occurs. As zombies surround the building, the group struggles to survive, battling not only the undead but also their own personal issues and dwindling hope. The film stars Luke Macfarlane and Missy Peregrym, and expertly combines the fears of a zombie invasion with the challenges of growing up.
‘Diabolic’ (2026)

Starting February 20th, you can watch this horror film on demand and on Screambox. It tells the story of Elise, played by Elizabeth Cullen, a woman plagued by blackouts who returns to her childhood home – a strict religious community – hoping to find healing. Instead, she uncovers a connection between her trauma and a vengeful spirit named Larue. As Elise attempts a ritual to get rid of the spirit, her past and present fears begin to merge. John Harlan Kim and Mia Challis also star as friends who watch as increasingly strange events unfold.
‘The Dreadful’ (2026)

This chilling horror film, set during the Wars of the Roses, brings together Sophie Turner and Kit Harington, known for their roles in Game of Thrones. Turner stars as Anne, a woman leading a difficult, secluded life with her mother-in-law, Morwen. When a figure from their shared past—played by Harington—reappears, a wave of frightening occurrences begins. The movie delves into the feelings of loneliness and the anxieties of the past, presenting a grim portrayal of life in 15th-century England. You can start watching this suspenseful film on February 20th.
’28 Years Later: The Bone Temple’ (2026)

The sequel to 28 Years Later premiered on streaming services on February 17th, continuing the story of a world after a devastating outbreak. The film centers on Spike, a young survivor who joins a ruthless gang called the Fingers, led by the compelling but dangerous Sir Lord Jimmy Crystal. Ralph Fiennes returns as Dr. Ian Kelson, still operating a chilling collection of remains called the Bone Temple for victims of the Rage Virus. Directed by Nia DaCosta, this movie connects the third film to a possible final installment, and explores the strange, cult-like groups that have emerged in the years since the outbreak began.
‘Ghost Train’ (2026)

A new South Korean horror anthology film becomes available digitally on February 17th. It centers on Da-kyung, a YouTuber trying to build an audience, who begins exploring a supposedly haunted train station. She encounters the station master, who shares terrifying stories about the station’s dark past. Each story features a unique kind of horror, ranging from traditional ghost stories to unsettling psychological thrills. As Da-kyung hears these tales, she starts to suspect the horror might be real, and closer than she thinks.
‘Blood Barn’ (2026)

Available on Screambox starting February 17th, this horror-comedy is a fun tribute to 1980s slasher movies. Set in the summer of 1985, the story centers around camp counselor Josie (Lena Redford) who throws a final party with her friends at a remote family barn before heading off to college. Their fun is quickly ruined when they unknowingly unleash a sinister presence that starts hunting them down. With lots of practical effects and a classic synth soundtrack, the film stars Chloe Cherry and fully leans into the over-the-top, bloody style of the era.
