‘It’s A Great Change to Feel’: Wayne Brady Talks About Navigating Life 1 Year After Coming Out As Pansexual

As a dedicated fan of Wayne Brady‘s multifaceted career, I am deeply moved by his recent revelation about his pansexuality and how it has impacted his life. In my opinion, Wayne Brady’s courageous decision to come out publicly showcases the importance of self-acceptance and living authentically.

Recently, Wayne Brady, who is a television host, comedian, actor, and singer, spoke to PEOPLE about how things have been for him a year after publicly identifying as pansexual. At The Hollywood Roosevelt in Los Angeles during the Wayne Brady: The Family Remix Tastemaker Event on July 22, he shared that little has changed in his life since coming out with this aspect of his identity.

He expressed that his experience of coming out wasn’t about undergoing a dramatic transformation, as he had anticipated no such thing. Instead, he explained, it was more like the internal metamorphosis portrayed in “Beauty and the Beast,” where one’s true self emerges, bringing joy and contentment.

Wayne Brady on his feelings after coming out

In August 2023, the star confessed to finding a sense of routine in his life. For clarification, according to WebMD, pansexuality refers to being attracted to individuals without regard to their gender. It encompasses romantic, emotional, and sexual connections. Similar to all other people, those who identify as pansexual or omnisexual may be drawn to certain people but not others, irrespective of the person’s gender.

The media figure revealed that the best part of coming out is the ability to authentically be oneself and form connections with anyone of choice. He expressed this new sense of liberation as an exciting perk.

He added that this event is among the most delightful transformations in his life. He no longer feels compelled to draw attention to the variations or modifications, remarking, “I don’t spend each day pointing them out.”

Wayne Brady on the success of his show and co-parenting with ex-wife Mandie Taketa

Before the debut of Wayne Brady’s new reality show, Wayne’s Family Remix, Brady shared his current perspective on success. The program offers a glimpse into Brady’s family life, featuring his ex-wife Mandie Taketa and their 21-year-old daughter, Maile Brady. Despite their separation in 2008 after nearly a decade of marriage, they maintain a strong friendship while co-parenting.

He shared that he spoke about topics which he hadn’t noticed others addressing before. To the best of his knowledge, he is the first person in his field to openly identify as pansexual in a public manner. Brady stressed the importance of his family standing together and accepting one another unconditionally.

Brady openly showed his joy for his loved ones and appreciation towards fans who have stood by him throughout his career. Moving forward, he is slated to resume hosting Let’s Make a Deal and initiate fresh endeavors, which encompass a scripted series and a collaborative musical game show with Taketa based on improvisation.

On Wednesdays, starting July 24, Freeform airs their new show at 10 p.m. Eastern Time. The following day, you can stream it on Hulu.
