Brad Pitt Shares the Movie He Considers an All Time Favorite

Brad Pitt is now considered one of Hollywood’s biggest and most respected actors. He’s known for successfully appearing in both big-budget action films and critically acclaimed dramas. Throughout his career, he’s worked often with renowned directors like Quentin Tarantino, starring in films such as Inglourious Basterds and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, and the Coen brothers, including their comedy Burn After Reading.

Like many movie lovers, Brad Pitt has his go-to favorite performances, and he deeply admires classic films that have influenced cinema. During a visit to a video store in Paris, Pitt highlighted Werner Herzog’s 1982 film, Fitzcarraldo, as one of his all-time favorites.

He’s especially intrigued by the famously difficult production of the film, which was documented in the movie Burden of Dreams. Fitzcarraldo tells the story of a man who tries to drag a huge steamship over a hill in the Peruvian jungle so he can build an opera house.

Pitt pointed out the contrast between the first actor cast in the lead role, Jason Robards, and the actor who ultimately finished the film, Klaus Kinski. He explained that Robards brought a cheerful energy to the character’s obsession, while Kinski’s portrayal was much more intense and filled with furious energy.

Brad Pitt has always appreciated Klaus Kinski’s powerful performances, even though they famously clashed on set. Pitt believes Kinski brought a special, almost frantic energy to his character, making the film truly memorable.

Pitt considers this unpredictable quality to be the reason the movie continues to be a favorite of his. Still creatively active at 62, he recently generated buzz at Super Bowl 60 with the first trailer for The Adventures of Cliff Booth, a sequel to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. The project is directed by David Fincher, working from a screenplay written by Quentin Tarantino.

Brad Pitt is back as the iconic stuntman he previously won an Oscar for, but this time he’s a professional “fixer” for movie studios. The new film boasts a large cast, including Elizabeth Debicki, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, and Carla Gugino, with Timothy Olyphant reprising his role as James Stacy.

After wrapping up production in mid-January on the $200 million movie, it’s predicted to be a huge hit this summer. Pitt is also enjoying success from his recent racing film, F1, which was a box office sensation in 2025.

In F1, he played Sonny Hayes, an experienced driver who returns to racing to guide a promising newcomer, played by Damson Idris. The movie was celebrated for its incredibly realistic racing scenes, many of which were filmed during actual Formula 1 Grand Prix events with the cooperation of the Formula 1 community.

Beyond his acting career, Brad Pitt is a successful producer. His production company, Plan B Entertainment, recently received a prestigious award at the Independent Spirit Awards for the film Train Dreams.
