Perched in the Riverlands, the Lannister army bides its time, anticipating the arrival of Aemond and his dragon Vhagar. But even with the mighty beasts on their side, the Lannisters face new challenges. The disadvantages of wielding dragons are as potent as their power, adding another layer of complexity to the unfolding battlefield.

Aemond sees conflict as his top priority, pushing aside advice from others like Alicent. After her attempt to share her insights was rebuffed, she was removed from the council and he acknowledged her “loyalty to the monarchy.” Cole grows apprehensive under Aemond’s rule as he consolidates power, leaving some questioning their loyalty to him. Was this decision wise?

With Aegon’s condition on the mend, Aemond urges the maesters to delay his full recovery, allowing Aegon to maintain his power for a while longer. However, he faces challenges from the Hand of the King, causing Aemond to question Cole’s loyalty in furthering his goals. Moreover, Aemond dismisses Larys’ manipulations and dispatches him to Otto Hightower, believing that his grandfather may regain control if he returns to his former position.

Rhaenyra’s optimism wanes as she remains oblivious to Seasmoke’s pursuit of Addam of Hull, one of Corlys Velaryon’s two natural-born sons. Notably, Alyn, Addam’s brother, plays a significant role in Corlys’ naval forces now. Rhaenyra’s failure at dragon training takes on greater significance and could introduce captivating twists as the conflict unfolds further.
