Fans Lose It as Solid Snake Officially Joins Rainbow Six Siege

Rainbow Six Siege is getting a big update: Solid Snake from Metal Gear Solid will become a playable character! Ubisoft announced this exciting addition during the final matches of the Six Invitational tournament, and he’ll be a permanent part of the game’s roster.

This marks the first time the game has included a character originating from outside the Tom Clancy world. Ubisoft and Konami collaborated for approximately a year to bring this partnership to life. The character will be voiced by David Hayter, famous for his role as Snake in the Metal Gear Solid games.

Fans are excited about this new addition because the worlds of Metal Gear Solid’s Snake and Splinter Cell’s Sam Fisher are finally colliding in one game. Seeing these two legendary stealth characters together has been a long-held wish for many players, and it’s now become a reality.

Ubisoft explains that the new operator, Snake, is built for quiet, sneaky gameplay and gathering information about the enemy. He uses a special radar called the Soliton Radar MKIII to find nearby opponents, but it also lets those opponents know when it’s being used, keeping the game fair. Snake will be equipped with a silenced .45 pistol and can choose from a variety of main weapons. Plus, he can pick up gear from enemies he defeats, giving him more options during a match.

Creative director Joshua Mills expressed how thrilled he is with the project. He said working with Solid Snake is a dream come true – a unique opportunity for any developer. But it’s not just about Snake himself; being able to feature both Snake and Sam Porter Bridges together is incredibly exciting – a truly special moment for fans.

He also described Snake’s role on the team, explaining that he’s a very promising addition. According to him, Snake acts as an in-game leader, excelling at gathering information, helping teammates enter buildings, and specializing in infiltration.

Ubisoft announced a Metal Gear-themed event for the 2v2 mode, previewing characters like Meryl Silverburgh, the Cyborg Ninja, and Revolver Ocelot. They’ll share more details about the event soon. The new operator will be added with the start of Year 11, Season One.
