My Uncle Earl—a man who once tried to day-trade Beanie Babies—would be thrilled. Apparently, Bullish (BLSH +2.40%) is having a moment. It plummeted last week, hit a 52-week low, and now… well, it’s not exactly soaring, but it’s definitely perked up. It’s up 15.5% since last Friday, which, in the grand scheme of things, is like me attempting a Pilates class – a surprising, fleeting burst of energy.
The reason? Cathie Wood, of course. Ark Invest has been buying shares like they’re going out of style. I imagine her team huddled around a monitor, whispering, “More Bullish! Yes! Before Brenda from accounting gets wind of it.” It’s always Brenda. She has a knack for timing these things.
The Ark Accumulation
Every day this week, Ark Invest added to their position. Monday, the Ark Fintech Innovation ETF snagged 6,158 shares. The Ark Next Generation Internet ETF and Ark Innovation ETF chimed in with 10,092 and 40,914 shares, respectively. It felt like a coordinated effort, like they were building a fort out of cryptocurrency. Tuesday through Thursday, the buying continued. Another 59,421 for Fintech, 98,443 for Next Gen Internet, and a whopping 375,611 for Innovation. It’s enough to make a person feel… inadequate. Like my modest index fund holdings are just a sad little pebble in a vast, digital ocean.
Following the Leader?
Ark Invest clearly sees something in Bullish. It’s a screaming buy, they seem to be saying. The stock took a beating after the fourth-quarter results, and the general crypto gloom surrounding Bitcoin‘s recent dip didn’t help. I keep reading about Bitcoin’s impending doom, and honestly, it makes me want to take up competitive birdwatching. It feels safer.
Now, I’m not suggesting you mortgage your house because Cathie Wood is on a buying spree. That’s how Uncle Earl ended up with a garage full of Ty beanie babies. But, if you’re looking for a cryptocurrency stock that’s currently trading 73% below its 52-week high, and has a solid position in the exchange provider space, Bullish is worth a look. Just… maybe don’t tell Brenda.
