The Vampire Lestat Releases New Statement About Upcoming ‘TV Show’ and Music, and He Supposes Producer Daniel Hart Can Say Something
To mark the debut of “Long Face,” the first official single from the world’s first immortal rockstar, Lestat de Lioncourt (played by Sam Reid), both the character Lestat and his producer, Daniel Hart, discussed the inspiration behind the music.
Daniel Hart explained that “Long Face” was the first song he wrote for The Vampire Lestat. The creative team intentionally drew inspiration from David Bowie, particularly his glam rock period and his ability to constantly reinvent himself, for Lestat’s musical style and character. Just as Bowie was a chameleon, Lestat’s music will also evolve throughout the season as he explores his identity and learns to authentically express himself through his performances.

Lestat shared his thoughts on the first single from his upcoming album, “Long Face.” He said producer Daniel Hart intentionally copied David Bowie’s style, claiming Hart hasn’t had a truly original idea in years – even questioning if Hart’s work on The Green Knight soundtrack was losing its impact. Regarding the song itself, Lestat criticized a specific musical choice at the end, stating the bassline should have mirrored the guitar instead of sustaining on a single note, calling the decision uninspired – a pattern he sees in all of Hart’s work.
Charmed, we’re sure. But hey, stream The Vampire Lestat’s song right now to give him a boost.
