I was so excited to see photos from the BAFTA Invest in Talent Gala in London this week! It’s always great to see industry events that focus on supporting up-and-coming filmmakers, game developers, and TV creatives. This year’s gala, held at The Chancery Rosewood, really shone a spotlight on Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender, which was fantastic – they’re both such amazing talents and great advocates for the next generation.
The couple, who usually prefer to keep their personal life private, surprised everyone with a public appearance. They attracted a lot of attention while posing for pictures at the event.
Alicia Vikander, 37, stunned in a custom grey gown by Louis Vuitton as she and her husband, an actor, walked the red carpet. The dress had an off-the-shoulder design, a ruffled neckline, and a fitted waist that flowed into a full skirt. Her husband looked sharp in a classic black-and-white tuxedo, and the couple posed for photos with him affectionately wrapping an arm around her.

The gala offered a preview of the 2026 BAFTA Awards, with nominations recently revealed by David Jonsson and Aimee Lou Wood. One Battle After Another leads the nominations with 14, closely followed by Sinners with 13. Chloe Zhao’s film Hamnet, based on Maggie O’Farrell’s novel, achieved a historic milestone as the most-nominated film ever directed by a woman. Marty Supreme, Frankenstein, and Sentimental Value also received several nominations.
The competition for acting awards is incredibly strong this year. Jessie Buckley is a frontrunner, nominated for her performance in Hamnet after already winning a Golden Globe and Critics Choice Award. She’s up against Rose Byrne (If I Had Legs I’d Kick You), Kate Hudson (Song Sung Blue), Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another), Renate Reinsve (Sentimental Value), and Emma Stone (Bugonia), all vying for the Best Actress title.
Alicia Vikander has a full year planned after the BAFTAs, including a role in the new drama The Last Day with Victoria Pedretti and Wagner Moura. Meanwhile, Michael Fassbender is filming The Kennedys for Netflix, where he’ll portray Joe Kennedy Sr. directed by Thomas Vinterberg.
As a total film buff, I’m already getting excited thinking about the 2026 BAFTAs! There’s so much incredible talent and amazing movies in the mix, and everyone’s buzzing about who’s going to win. I’m dying to know what you all think – who do you think deserves the big awards this year? Let’s chat about the nominations!
